I do not see us fixing any of our pass rushing woes by drafting number 29 and thinking we are going to get a rookie to change anything, or any of the current players are going to make some big leap because if they had elite passing rushing skills one of them would have shown it already in at least a few dominant plays... we are going to have to get at least one high priced pass rusher in free agency :)

I don't think we will see Steve Keim overpay for a UFA like Bruce irvin. I think Keim will try to sign an up and coming edge rusher like Nick Perry (GB---who had 2.5 sacks in the playoffs, 1 versus Veldheer) to a mid-range contract and then draft a 34DE like Jonathan Bullard of Florida, who can rush inside and outside in the 4 man nickel. Then later in the draft (3rd or 4th round), take a speed OLB like Deion Jones, LSU or Alex McCalister of Florida.

The Florida defense was the best defense in the country---one can imagine that Steve Keim and the scouts are keeping close tabs on DE Jonathan Bullard, ILB Antonio Morrison, FS Keanu Neal and OLB Alex McCalister---all 4 of them are ballers.

I agree mitch on both buc and golden so that leaves two lbs we need to upgrade imo, but I don't see that coming through the draft.this year I do see potential to get a disrupter on the dline in the draft which is where I'm focusing in the 1st rd . Calais is good a pros pro but not quick twitch I like most of the components but we lack that guy you need to game plan for maybe Gunter can get there but I'm not seeing that happen for a couple yrs. If I'm Kiem I try to move up this year to draft DE or NT I try to trade down to get speed for the future. I do think speed in front 7 is where we lack so hopefully we a ddress that early and often, but by the time that speed developes our window may be closed. I'm almost to the point I trade draft picks for proven players which as a cardinal fan I never thought I would say.

OLBs Kareem Martin, Shaq Riddick, Zach Wagenmann, Tristan Okpalaugo. All of these rushers have length and potential.

Bottom line: it should be very interesting to see if any of the rushers in this group emerge. Bill Parcels always says, "Potential means you haven't done anything yet." Curiously, BA has stated that he doesn't think that the Cardinals are going to be able to solve their pass rush through free agency. Steve Keim said recently that the top pass rushers in FA may be too pricey. Thus, if they are correct, the Cardinals' blueprint for the top of the draft is becoming very clear.

Yeah, there should be some very decent pass rushers that can create some havoc when the Cardinals are on the board. Both on DL and at OLB. I don't see them going in another direction unless a very high ceiling CB falls. But that should be addressed in Rd. #2, imo. They may even go S there.

I like the progress Golden made last season. Another year should bring even better results.

Where we get the rush from playing straight up w/o blitzing will/has been the challenge of this D system. We've left ourselves exposed far too often for big downfield gains and RAC plays. We need to assert pressure using 4-5 rushers, then bring more, much more rarely.

So essentially every player on our bench and practice squad.

Some of these guys I agree with but many of them are where they are for a reason.

My guess is we'll do what we did the last 2 years and sign some key aging FA's to fill gaps, hopefully we'll draft better this year and some of our recent picks that have not panned out yet, finally will.

My main argument is in regards to pass rushers...in my experience, you either have it or you don't. I would say that none of the players on our roster have it. We have guys who could develop into 8-10 sack a year guys, but none who have any natural talent for it.

The Cardinals roster is very deep in terms of NFL talent, but limited in the number of players who are game changers. You can make an argument for Mathieu and Peterson, but Peterson is easy to avoid and Mathieu has size limitations. None of the players on offense is yet, though I have hope for John Brown, and Iupati. Johnson may get there, but RBs are inherently dependent on game flow and their offensive lines.

Our pass rushers could make 8 or 10 sacks, but just if there is a mistake in the other side. .
A great pass rusher can beat the opposite tackle even if the lineman put the 100%
