Igor is a humble guy. I like his ability to adapt his coaching to the roster and the talent given.

Igor asked about Sarver.... his experience was positive.

Everyone is going to do their job... Kokoskov, McDonough and Sarver.

He believes in players sacrificing for the team, being competitive and in perseverance.

Although Igor knows alot about Doncic, he knows the Suns scouts and McDonough know more about the other players in the draft. He will defer to them about finding the right players for the Suns.

That is good to hear. I think the fear of hiring Igor meant we were taking Doncic no matter where we landed in the lottery was overblown hysteria that was hyped up because some people need a negative to hold on to. I never bought into that but thought that he did give us a good idea of the player that Luka is without needing to guess as much.

How much Kokoskov values the relationship with McDonough and vice president of basketball operations James Jones shined through the brightest.

Kokoskov knows his front office wants to make moves and he’s ready to see what he has in front of him after this offseason.

“My job as a coach is to adjust to what we have,” he said. “So, (the) ingredients (are) coming from Ryan and I’ve gotta cook for us.”

“My answer is definitely, maybe,” Kokoskov said while visiting Doug & Wolf on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. “Obviously I have a history — I coach Luka and I can say more about him. Other guys, as a scout, as a executive, those guys are watching more college basketball. They know more than what I know (about Ayton).

“I’m not afraid to throw my opinion over there and to have an opinion. That’s my job,” he added. “I’ve got to be very cautious to have a strong opinion to demand. I’m not a guy who demands because if I don’t have a complete picture of the whole draft, it’s hard for me to give my voice and force for us to take Luka, even though he’s a diamond, he’s (a) really special kid. We have to compare Luka with other guys and see what’s best for the team.”

Excellent interview here. He said he really like Luka, but he does not know the other players as well as the scouts and mgmt and its dangerous for a coach to insist on a player when that is the only player he knows well. He said he really liked Tatum going into last year's draft, but Utah got a pretty good player that was not really on his radar.

We most likely won’t even have the opportunity to draft Luka so you have no reason to fear.

I also liked this comment from Igor having been an assistant under Alvin Gentry.

“We tasted and felt that, what is being part of a winning team and playing in June and being on TV in June. That’s a special moment and I think we all deserve that,” Kokoskov said. “I think the city of Phoenix deserves that. I think the fans who love basketball deserve that. And we’ll give our best to bring this organization and this team to that path … that’s going to be my goal.”

Yes. We need these moments again.
