Ok this might sound gay but..... how nice is it to have a coach that is in shape?? It may mean nothing to the players or to the overall scheme of things, but I think it is nice to look at your HC and see someone who looks like he works hard. This IMO has to give the players a point of reference. Some of this is about image.

Yea...

I kind of got the same feeling. He looked like a badass out there with the black on. I never got that feeling about one of our coaches before, until I saw him on the jumbotron yesterday.​

He is a badass. He's a cross between Bill Cowher and Bill Parcells.

I sit in section 102, Row 11... Right where the Cards enter and exit the stadium. I actually saw our head coach sprinting into the locker room after the game ended yesterday, slapping players backs and high fiving the kids leaning over the stadium railing!!!

Not gay at all. I thought the same thing when they hired him. It's hard for me not to equate fat with lazy. Denny was a lazy coach.

Whis gives good pressers too, he doesn't make silly proclamations or give us "one heartbeat" speeches or anything like that.

I like how he seems to hold himself and the players accountable and isn't an a-hole towards the press like others can be.

Back in the day (when I used to meglomaniacally send e-mails and correspondence to the Bidwills which always remained unanswered) I sent a note to ownership about the job specs for a new head coach right after we had fired Buges. I observed that teams typically take on the personna of their head coach and that one qualification of our new HC should be that he be "a lean, high-energy guy if we wanted to have a lean, mean, high-energy football team.

Alas the rest was history. But, at last, it's nice to have a HC like Wiz (who according to reports, actually goes out and runs with his players).

He kept a sweet poker face when the Cards were stinking up the place on Monday night. I don't recall seeing such a thing from most coaches let alone any Cards' coaches.

The Cards have outplayed both opponents so far this season. They are one play away from 2-0.

Of course I might also add that one could say they are also one play away from 0-2!

I liked the way he counseled Elton Brown after #61 got a personal foul for retaliating against a Seahawk player. (The 2nd guy always gets the flag.) It was almost a father-son type deal visually. I suspect Elton will show a little more restraint next time.

More than once Seattle players were trying to provoke our guys and for the most part they failed. At least in that area Whis has seemingly improved the discipline. There are still plenty of stupid penalties, but hopefully the trend is in the right direction.
