VINNY TOBIN! best cards coach in last 20 years!

WRONG!

I looked it up. Tobin was 21-29 going into the 98 season and we all know what happened that year.

You have to go back to Don Coryell 42-29 unless you want to count Larry Wilsons 3 game interim stint of 2-1

Before Coryell we had,

Charlie Winner 35-10-5
Wally Lemm 27-26-3
Jimmy Conzelman 27-10

Going back to the beginning of time we had 4 head coaches from 1920 thru1926. Ironically enough they all had winning records with a combined record of43-24-6

One other note in 1949 we actually had Co-head coaches. Buddy Parker and Phil Handler with a record of 6-5.

Whiz has an opportunity to become the greatest coach in Cardinal history and he can accomplish that in 4 years!

In many ways , that is remarkably sad!

I put this up yesterday in the Coach Whisenhunt appreciation thread.

No Coach in Arizona had EVER been over .500 (career with the Cards) until Sunday night. Not even 1-0.

That isn't true. In our first year in Arizona, Gene Stallings was our coach and we started the season 4-2, before losing 2 in a row. Then we went on a 3 to have a 7-4 record. We then imploded and lost the final 5 games. He ended up getting fired the next season but finished his Phoenix Cardinals coaching career at 12-15. Also, Whiz was 3-2 last season before the injuries hit.

However, the following is true:
No Coach in Arizona, having completed a full season had EVER been over .500 (career with the Cards) until Sunday night.

And while Cardinals coaching records may be sad; what isn't sad is that the records are being broken... NOW!

Missed those but I was looking at Stallings overall record for some reason. But that still makes Whisenhunt the only coach to have a career winning record at any time after his first season in Arizona.
