Grimm – Run Game Coordinator, and will still be the OL and Assistant HC
Mike Miller – Pass Game Coordinator
Jurecki stated on the radio that Grimm and Miller will run the Offensive practices and along with Wiz come up with the game planning. On Game day Wiz will call plays again with input from Miller and Grimm.

WR Coach – John McNulty – Rutgers OC and QB coach, was Jax WR coach when McCardell and Smith were at their best.
QB Coach – Chris Miller – Was a coaching intern last year in training camp.

Davis is in fact the new DC.
Matt Raich is the new LB coach. Was the D Quality Control Coach last year.

Spots left open still. Offensive Quality Control Coach and Defensive Quality Control Coach. I would also think they need a assistant for Russ Grimm who is going to be stretched pretty thin, so maybe the OQC needs to have some OL background in them.

It took them this long to do all of that. I refreshed my browser over 100 times today.:mulli:

I only have two big grips - One is Grimm is stretched way thin, one of his duties will suffer because of it without a doubt. The Second is we should have tried to get a much more experianced LB coach to work with what I think will be a lot of really young LB's after the draft.

What does a quality control coach do anyway? Is he just a glorified film guy?

He does a lot of the film work stuff making tapes for the other positional assistants but they also help out on the practice field which ever Defensive assitants want his help. They will try to help out with coaching all of the positions when and where ever they can.

In simple terms you can call them an "assistant to the position coaches"

I love that we have a coach named McNulty.

Kinda underwhelming, nothing to make me feel excited or disappointed. I'll just trust Whisenhunts judgement in this case.

Dear Darren Urban:

Could you please write up a Q & A from the combine with Billy Davis to let us know how his defense will be different from Pendy's and how he plans to use Karlos Dansby? Much appreciated. You da man, BTW!

The hiring that excites me the most is the new WR Coach John McNulty. After a slow start last year his Scarlet Knights won their last six games and exploded the last five games offensively averaging well over 40 points per game.

McNulty has both pro and college experience...has experience as a coordinator and calling plays and could well be the heir apparent to Todd Haley.

I agree with Joe that Russ Grimm will be wearing three hats...but I think Whiz was right in divvying up the duties and not naming a token OC, seeing as Whiz will be calling the plays. So, Whiz will be stretched as well.

Maurice Carthon will likely assist Grimm in the coordination of the running offense, so that will help. But, it will be a team effort all the way around.

BTW...don't be surprised that with the hiring of McNulty that the Cardinals may select Rutgers' QB Mike Teel (6-4, 220 4.83) who was en fuego the last six games for the scarlet Knights and had a very good career there.

mcnulty is a superb addition and also a sign that we are still dedicated to a high power offense. rutgers put up some very big numbers in a lot of games while he was there

Urbans recent blog with a q and A with Wiz answers a lot of those questions. Looks like Wiz wants to groom Mike Miller in a similar fashion as he did Haley, and there really wont be any change to what Grimm has already been doing the last two years.

As for Davis and scheme Wiz said they will continue to do what they have been doing on D the last 2 years with a few more nuances of the 3-4 added that we havent had before. I think it means it will be more of what Davis envisioned with his brain child of the Predator D, instead of a 4-3 with 3-4 tendancies like Pendy. Suunds like a 3-4 with 4-3 tendancies instead IMO.

Big BQ!
we have three brains as opposed to one working on our offensive game plans with one dedicated overseer-whizz this tells me he's more serious about the running game, dedicating russ grimm entirely to oversee that[besides his other duties]. I don't feel that Grimm will be overtaxed at all. read the article here about grimm:

I do know that from watching the Super Bowl that our defense is nothing like what the Steelers run. There were plays where Brian Robinson was DE with Smith inside him then DT, both 4-3 alignments, and where Okeafor was DE and Dansby lined up outside him. The Cards would run a 3-4 then a 5-1-5 then a 4-3 all on the same series. I never did see the Cards in a 3-4 with Dansby on the outside and Beisel in the middle. Every time I saw Dansby on the outside it was with at least 4 down linemen.

But in watching the defensive replays the thing that keeps popping up. The thing that killed Pendy's zone. Terrible tackling by our secondary.

BTW: Okeafor had a tremendous game.
