Cris Collinsworth is coming onto Gambo and Ash at 2:10 today (about 10 minutes from now).

Gambo has had his knickers in a twist over the lack of respect the national media has given the Cards. Could be fun...

Paraphrased Highlights:

ASH: Introduces CC.

CC: He is on a bye week, so he will watch the World Series.

GAMBO: What do you think of the QB switch in Tenn?

CC: It's the right move, but it won't really matter. They will likely drafting a new QB of the future.

ASH: Were you shocked by the Cards at NYG after their performance at INDY?

CC: Yes he was shocked. He is a Whis believer, but he is impressed by how they are winning (D). Impressive D with new coordinator. Winning on the road. Also impressed by Beanie. Added physicality and grinding to compliment the passing game.

GAMBO: Worst playoff team of all time. Regrets saying it?

CC: Yes. He said it was stupid. But he said it after the NE game, having just called the Eagles game. He saw them give up and then made that comment after they clinched. It bit him in the tail.

GAMBO: Kurt is upset the team has no credibility. Do they really lack it?

CC: They have been up and down. Teams get judged by their performances on National TV. They did only win 9 games last season. But to see the culture change and see them win 3 in a row on the road, and the physicality, they are a different team. It takes people more time to keep up. He did more X's and O's in this game to show the Cards were doing so well against the G-men in executing their gameplan.

ASH: Promotes NFL Mobiile Live

CC: Sprint NFL Mobile is the greatest thing ever...blah...blah. It's free... Take it as an apology to the state of AZ for what I said last year...

ASH: How good are the other teams he's seen on Sunday Night?

CC: Indy is his pick to be the SB contender.

ASH: Pittsburgh...they've been up and down. How good are they?

CC: They have a few issues, but as Troy gets healthy, their D will improve. League is coming down to QB play. The teams with solid QB's are contenders. The pretenders don't have QB's.

GAMBO: Talk about Cincinnati

CC: Zimmer a great DC. No one noticed last year how the D was fixed. Now with Carson Palmer and the improvement of the O Line has turned things around.

ASH: Can the Cards get in on the flex schedule later this year?

CC: They had alot of fun watching the Cards the other night. They are definitely on the radar and there are a couple of slots that they could slide a Cards game into the flex slot on SNF.

ASH: Thinks the Minny game will be flexed.

He was contrite about his comments. He seems to be on the Cards bandwagon, at least in terms of thinking they are for real this year.

I dunno why people hate CC. I've always liked him - he speaks his mind. At the time, most people (including a lot of us on this board) had doubts the Cards would get past the Falcons. To his credit, he spoke out.

When Wilson did his interview they told him about CC's apology and if that would change how the team feels about him.

Wilson said, quote, "We still hate him. What he said was like someone slapping your mama."

I wish I could have been at Gambo's house to see the Big Red hike their leg & piss all over his Giants team. He & his love for NY teams should keep him from doing sports in the Valley.

Eh I'd give him credit if he ACTUALLY went out on a limb. What he said was the easy way out.....

This is one thread that I just don't get.

Who the he__ is Gambo to be calling out Collinsworth for hating on the Cards. Collinsworth has acknowleged that fact and admitted that he was wrong many times already. Where is Gambo's Cards-bashing apology???? The only person in the valley who was MAYBE worse than Gambo at this was Bickley, although Mark Curtis on Ch 12 was pretty venemous most of the time too. That was why he had Gambo on his Sunday night sports show so much. He had a built-in like-minder.

Collinsworth was the ONLY person on last Sunday's telecast of the Cards/Giants game that acknowleged the Cards for ANYTHING GOOD. He even called Michaels out at one point, (or at least talked over him). I believe that Collinsworth gets it-----he realizes that this Cardinals team is young AND upcoming, (just like his Bengals).

I want to see what Gambo has to say about this team if they lose to the Panthers on Sunday, (God Forbid). That would break my heart, but I wouldn't be out there dissing on the Cards. Bet you can't say the same for Gambo if that happened ?????

THANK YOU

Gambo has done nothing for the past 10 years but trash the Cardinals franchise.

Even last year he gave us 0 respect. He talked about how the Giants "Beat the Cardinals asses at home" for atleast 6 weeks after that game. It wasn't until AFTER the superbowl that Gambo finally got on the bandwagon, which is fine, whatever, but now he's crying about how we get no respect...

Sports radio in the valley - my rant

One thing I don't miss about living in the Phoenix area is listening to a.m. radio transplants who openly root for other cities' teams discuss the local sports organizations.

Is it too much to ask of the local media outlets in hiring their sports writers, radio hosts, etc. if the person applying for the job has a vested interest (being a fan) in the sports teams they'll report on? I'm not asking that they aren't critical, just that they don't secretly get off on when their team from back east beats the local teams they cover.

Gambo's lovefest of NY - hate it
Bickley's lovefest of Chicago - even worse

There has got to be talented media people in the valley who have been there long enough to call the Cardinals, Dbacks, and Suns "their" team.

You guys realize that Gambo is paid to be the villian. Why do you think he was paired with the home town boy? Most of his stuff is for show. Do you really think they would let him trash talk to D-Backs and and talk up to the Yankees to Derrick, the D-Backs President if it was not for show. When he is not in character, he shows his real love for all things AZ. Read his online column sometime. I listen for entertainment value and to be kept up to date on everything. If I wanted just plain homers, I would listen to 1060 on my way home, but that show is just borning.

By the way guys, wrestling is fake.

I always suspected that Collinsworth and Esiason bagged on the Cardinals because they were Bengals, and both recognized a bad franchise firsthand, but also wanted to make sure there was a team that was worse than theirs.

-But- after the performance in New England last year, CC's comment was one the Cardinals deserved. They got the last laugh by going to the Super Bowl, but in New England they acted like they weren't even interested in stepping on the field. They looked like the worst playoff team of all time. It was up to them to prove him wrong, not hold a grudge.

Exactly! Well put and I entirely agree. And I think that is what Whisenhunt drilled into their heads.

And I think Whiz will continue to challenge them to play so well no one can even think they belong in any "worst team" category.

Classic! I agree.

Fortunetly I haven't had to listen to AM radio in over a year. It's all about the NFL Network on Sirius. It's the NFL 24/7!

So true about Gambo. But to his credit, I have been listening all week to hear what he said about the Cards beating the G-Men. He isn't making excuses for NY. He is giving the Cards credit.

I thought he would be ranting about how the Giants lost the game. But he has done nothing but acknowledge that the Cards played the better game and basically punched them in the mouth.

I agree he is usually paid to be the bad guy. Radio is boring if everyone agrees all the time. That being said, I think he is fiercely loyal to NY teams, but he is not blinded by that love and can still give the Cards props.

I love Sirius, but I hate when people call in.

Buckwheat from Podunk calls in about his Raiders and wonders why they can't trade Russell for Peyton Manning straight up.

Cheesehead from (anywhere outside of Wisconsin) wants to talk about the Packers on their Bye Week.

Annoying Jets Fan wants to do the J-E-T-S chant and talk about how Sanchez is God...after he throws 3 INTs.

Steelers Fan from Arizona wonders why his team's games are pre-emted by the stupid Cardinals game on TV...

Seriously, truly epic morons call in alot of the time and the hosts rarely call them on it. And you just feel sorry for them because you know they waiting on hold for over an hour just to embarrass themselves on a national radio show.
