I haven't seen this anywhere else... are we sure it hasn't been said? I mean just two weeks ago, JG was talking about how enthused Colt was to get the playbook and get to work. No rumors of retirement.

If this is the case, I'm a little peeved at Colt for making the decision now, instead of before Free Agency, when we could have made a stronger bid at some of the QBs out there. I mean, I do understand evaluating the current state of the roster and making the tough decision, but still.

The article I posted is from Friday and it talked about the USFL side gig and how he was the Cardinals #1 going into next season. I think someone misheard something.

Can we all agree this is unrelated to the Cards’ disastrous offseason please ?

Considering it doesn't seem to be real and there's absolutely nothing about it anywhere online then sure

Seems like BS considering he was in the building this last week for conditioning

Yeah, I'd read the same article or similar, so I was like "wow, that's a quick course correction."

I can only hope the rumors the Cards like this Tanner McKee are not true. He could throw a football through a brick wall, if he could hit the wall. He has the mobility of Herman Munster. A total waste of a pick!

I think McKee has a future as a long term backup.

I'd consider him day three.

Good dude who made the most out of what he had. I wish him luck.

Not seeing anywhere that he retired. There was a recent article discussing how he is doing USFL games while still on an NFL contract...

Why Cardinals' Colt McCoy is calling USFL games for NBC while on NFL contract

McCoy reportedly won't be involved in calling games until later in the season at late May or early July, according to the Cardinals. He will still be involved in all Arizona offseason activities.

McCoy will be heading into his age-37 campaign and is in the last season of his current contract with the Cardinals. While he hasn't given any hints at retirement, he does at least appear to start thinking about what could be next in his career. And perhaps, his time calling USFL games could give a glimpse into his next steps.

"I have thought a lot about it," McCoy said, according to the Cardinals. "I'm not saying this is what I'm going to do because I don't know how good I'm going to be. It's an art. In saying that, I'm thankful they choose me to get some practice and do this and see where it goes."

A few days ago there were news articles that "McCoy retired", and the articles were referring to Gerald McCoy of the Tampa Bay Bucs. My guess is that someone saw the headline and erroneously assumed that they referred to Colt McCoy. There aren't any reports of Colt McCoy announcing his retirement.

This was posted as part of the Driskel press release. He has not retired, at least not yet.

"When Jonathan Gannon was asked last week about whether there would be a competition between Colt McCoy and David Blough, the Cardinals coach was adamant.

McCoy has been Murray's top backup for the past two seasons and figures to be the favorite going into the offseason. But with a new coaching staff, how the depth chart will sort itself out remains a mystery. The Cardinals have their first minicamp April 25-27."
