If the Cards and Kyler cannot agree to an extension, and Kyler wants to sit out, am I the only one that thinks Colt McCoy could get us to the playoffs? He's played well when he has been in games for us.

1. Yes you are the only one

2. FWIW Gambo said today he doesn’t think Murray/Burkhardt are bluffing the sit out scenario but thinks the Cards think they are bluffing

Keim is calling his bluff by not signing anyone. He's trying to get Kyler to that 5th year extension and then judge him after a rebuilding year.

IF Kyler wants anywhere near 50/250 mil for 5 years I say let him dream.

KM/B probably think they aren't bluffing, but when KM is missing games/money hand over fist, B's begging him to stand strong will evaporate. Likely it won't even last until the regular season. There's just too much against a player to do that any longer.

If Murray holds out or Colt McCoy has to start and is 2-5 as the starter the board will be like: "Remember when we thought Colt McCoy was good?". The melt down would be epic.

Good signing. I like Colt and I had wished Kliff would have inserted Colt into the Rams game in the second half when everyone saw the game was too big for Kyler that day. I dont understand why as a whole, the entire team has to get kicked out of the playoffs due to the inadequacies of one player.

This is such a misguided, biased take. The entire team choked, not just Kyler. The players, coaches, probably even the water boys...

Colt McCoy would have made little to no difference (it may have been worse with him at QB). It was a total TEAM (coaches and players) meltdown and ineptitude.

Colt McCoy was a good re-sign but to think he could QB the team for more than 2 or 3 games and be successful is a bit wishful thinking. He's never been starter material and never will be, he is simply a pretty good backup. Some are getting into "Josh McCown Syndrome" a bit with him, elevating him to a status he's not anywhere near.

I disagree. If your star player is shizzing the bed you put in the backup (Colt). Any other position would have been substituted. Kyler embarrassed himself and the team more than any other player that day.

No way. You would have had to bench the entire team, not just Kyler. Be objective.

This. And, if youre planning on hitching your wagon to the guy who is unfortunately crapping the bed in front of you at the worst possible time, the last thing you should do is, whilst on the biggest stage, yank the rug out from under him. Regardless of his actions in that game, the team doing that would have effectively ended his tenure as our QB. The team HAS to behave more maturely than the QB they love but still has a long way to go.

Exactly. You can't just bench QBs. They are treated unlike any other player in professional sports.
