The Indianapolis Colts' top two picks were the favorite picks of NFL.com's Chad Reuter in Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2025 NFL draft.
So not surprisingly, with a start like that, Reuter was a big fan of the Colts' overall draft, giving them an A.
With the dust having settled on the draft, Reuter went through several of the draft rounds and listed his favorite picks from each one. At the top of this list in Round 1 was Tyler Warren going to the Colts.
"In my opinion, Warren was the top pass catcher in the draft not named Travis Hunter. Colts quarterbacks will love (and opposing defenders will hate) his size and physicality at the line of scrimmage, over the middle and in the red zone. While not as smooth a mover as Colston Loveland, who was picked 10th overall by the Bears, Warren will be a huge part of the Indianapolis offense after falling into his new team's lap -- just like Brock Bowers with the Raiders last year."
This is one of those instances where value meets need and when it comes to the draft, it doesn't get much better than that.
Warren gives the Colts their needed pass-catching boost at tight end and, as GM Chris Ballard mentioned, can be a big threat over the middle of the field, not to mention that he always seems to be open with this size and the reliability of his hands.
But in addition to that, Warren brings a "toughness" to the offense, as Shane Steichen said, and his well-rounded and versatile skill set will add some unpredictability as well, with him able to fill a number of roles.
Then, moving on to Round 2 in Reuter's breakdown, his favorite selection in that round was again made by the Colts, who took Ohio State defensive end JT Tuimoloau.
"This pick screams substance over style, and I love it. Tuimoloau is not considered a bendy edge rusher but has plus length, explosion coming out of his stance and good change-of-direction ability for a 6-foot-4, 265-pounder. It won't surprise me if he and Abdul Carter prove to be the top two edge players in this draft class. The Colts lost Dayo Odeyingbo as a free agent, so Tuimoloau should be on the field early and often."
Tuimoloau was a three-down presence at Ohio State, ranking 14th in pressures among all edge rushers last season and sixth in PFF's run defense grade. Instantly, he is someone who can come in and make an impact for the Colts and raise the floor of that defensive end rotation.
