Drew Brees was just named " Comeback Player of the Year " by the A P.

I don't get it!

If a person is the " comeback " doesn't that mean he would have had to be someplace first? Like a guy goes from " good year " to "bad year" and back to
" good year ".

Brees went from College to bad years to a good year. Wasn't injured in between.

Maybe no one else qualified. What gives?

Brees was down enough that the Chargers used their 1st pick in the draft to find a replacement for him. He went from being their quarterback of the future to nobody. Then he comes out and leads the Chargers to a division title, keeping his replacement on the bench the entire season and propelling himself to be possibly the prized Free Agent this offseason. I'd give him the title, although I had hoped that Emmitt would earn it.

I agree 100% what is with that? He never cameback from anything unless they count coming back from terrible seasons.

I would have voted for Mushin Muhammid or Bettis or Tiki Barbar in that case

The NBA has an award for " The Most Improved Player ". If the NFL had one of those , Brees could have been the choice.
