I initially had no desire to see this movie, but after a could of previews, it is winning me over. I am hoping the melodrama of the doctor getting his life threatened isn't present in the whole movie. I don't think the NFL resorted to mafia tactics. More likely, a few rogue fans did something stupid.

My wife asked me how recent this was. I said, "Considering that Luke Wilson is playing the current Commissioner, pretty recent."

She even wants to see it now.

The same person who cast Luke Wilson as Goodell, just HAD to be the same guy who cast Tom Selleck as Ike.

I am going to check this out. The doctor being portrayed just did an interview saying as much as 90% of NFL players have brain damage.

Wow!

I finally got a chance to see this, and it did not disappoint. What an amazing movie, and a disturbing story. Will Smith nailed it. This movie was even more impactful for me, as I live in the 'Burgh.

What, the Pittsburgh angle? I can't help it, I love where I live.

Why odd taste, though?

not the Pittsburg angle. Just the fact that I thought this was solid, but nothing special and figured when I saw you post that you would love it because I can consistently count on being surprised by your opinion.

Saw this over the weekend and thought it was by far the best acting Will Smith has ever done, and the topic is especially poignant being a big football fan. I forgot about Andre Waters, and I looked up to Junior Seau when I was young and (briefly and poorly) played the game.

Yeah, Will Smith nailed it.

Sad stuff.

Prior to Mike Webster's death, during the worst of his CTE-related mental health difficulties, this movie shows him alone in his truck (where he has started living) when he removes his pants and applies a Taser-style electronic weapon to his own heavily scarred leg. Although the movie never provides an explanation for this action, articles on ESPN.com and in GQ covering Webster's death and Bennet Omalu's research explained that Webster did this to himself because at that point in his illness, he was unable to fall asleep, but the Taser would at least render him unconscious for periods of time.
