True to his word, wide receiver Anquan Boldin practiced Wednesday, the first day of voluntary team workouts with veterans and rookies.

Boldin and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, are seeking a contract extension, but Boldin has said he will not hold out from team workouts as a negotiating ploy.

The contract situation is not a distraction, Boldin said. The Cardinals have expressed their interest in extending his deal, which has two years remaining, since he won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2003.

"I think he just wants to have a good year," coach Dennis Green said. "He feels that practicing is the best way. He's also confident that the contract will get done. I think that's what everybody involved has said."

Rosenhaus clients Terrell Owens of Philadelphia and Javon Walker of Green Bay are also seeking contract extensions. Both receivers are sitting out of workouts with their respective teams.

Voluntary workouts are scheduled for the next three weeks. The team reports to training camp in Flagstaff on July 31.

Davis also practicing

Starting left offensive tackle Leonard Davis practiced for the first time since suffering a knee injury Dec. 26 against Seattle.

No shows

Running back Troy Hambrick, defensive end Peppi Zellner and cornerback Lamond Reid were not at Wednesday's workouts.

Reid, a rookie, was excused, but Hambrick and Zellner told Green they would attend.

"(These workouts) are voluntary. Both of them have some issues they have to take care of," Green said. "I think that's all you can say. . . . They said they'd be here. The (NFL) players association doesn't want us to put pressure on players. This is strictly voluntary."

Now that's awesome news, sure sounds like Quan has no intention of being the latest Rosenhaus client to piss a team off.

Renews my faith that Quan is a team guy and plays for love of the game. Yes, it is his business but he is sensible and loyal to trust a deal will happen!
