1) Jerry Rice - 22,895
2) Terrell Owens - 15,934
3) Randy Moss - 15,292
4) Isaac Bruce - 15,208
5) Tony Gonzalez - 15,127
6) Larry Fitzgerald - 14,953

Larry needs 174 for 5th
Larry needs 255 for 4th
Larry needs 339 for 3rd
Larry needs 981 for 2nd

He's had 564 yards in the first half of the season.
I'm no TO fan and think he's a selfish blowhard but if you think Fitz had bad QB's throwing at him, look at the cast of clowns throwing to TO:

Steve Young(no clown for sure but the clown car is after him)
Elvis Grbac
Jim Drunkenmiller
Jeff Brohm
Ty Detmer
Jeff Garcia
Steve Stenstrum
Rick Miller
Tim Rattay
Ken Dorsey
Donvan McNabb
Koy Detmer
Jeff Blake
Mike McMahon
Tony Romo
Drew Bledsoe
Brad Johnson
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Trent Edwards
Carson Palmer

So, take out Young, McNabb, Palmer, Romo, and maybe Garcia and the rest are just as bad as the clowns throwing at Fitz.

Damn it would be great to see him get to #2 but I just don't know if he comes back to a rebuild next year just to get it. Maybe if AP is still here and wants to play another year with him. But I'm dubious.

one more decent season and he can be 2nd in both yards and catches IIRC

Rank Player Rec Years Tm
1
Jerry Rice+ 1,549 1985-2004 3TM
2 Tony Gonzalez 1,325 1997-2013 2TM
3 Larry Fitzgerald 1,175 2004-2017 crd
4 Jason Witten 1,124 2003-2017 dal
5 Marvin Harrison+ 1,102 1996-2008 clt
6 Cris Carter+ 1,101 1987-2002 3TM

I think this was prior to this season...so he would need 150 catches between 2017 and 2018 seasons

That is current number - he started the season at 1,125.

Jason Whitten is keeping pace and would pass Larry if Larry retired before Whitten.

He should be able to reach #3 this year, but if he wants to secure #2 I'm not sure it'll be with the Cards, though I hope. He's cheap next year, but represents almost $5mil in savings.

If he could some how, some way get 1k yards next season he should be able to lock himself as #2 for the foreseeable future.

Denny deserves a hell yea :koolaid: I appreciate Larry’s elite character as much as his elite hands. I’ll take whatever he gives us- Larry owes nobody nothing.

At his receptions rate, he might overtake Rice in that category if he plays another 10 years

Idk if Antonio Brown will ever catch Larry. Obviously AB is the best WR in the league right now. His route running is amazing. But in order to run such crisp and quick routes you need your physical skills to be on peak. The way Larry plays from the slot requires savvy, strength and size - basically like a TE - so he could do it for several more years at a great level if he chooses to do so. Larry is already over the hump when it comes to losing a step. I honestly think he could play at least another 5 years. We'll see how long AB has that shiftiness going for him. Does he have the size and toughness to run shorter routes over the middle once his skills regress? Big Ben won't be there for him much longer, with whom he developed an unreal connection over many years. This connection will be very tough to replicate. Not saying AB can't play into his mid 30s at a high level, but he will certainly have to if he wants to catch Larry.

If LF continues to average the same yards per year through 2018 he will have around 16,700 yards. That's just WOW!

He is currently 118 catches behind Gonzalez for 2nd all-time, and 342 behind Rice for the #1 ALL-TIME position!!
He'll never catch Rice for the #1 position in reception yards, but he certainly has a great shot at surpassing Owens.. not this year of course, so he would have to make good on his signing of a 2018 contract!

Also, what's quite stunning is that there is nobody in Larry's rear-view mirror, especially in the Yards category... Antonio Brown and Julio Jones represent the best threats I guess to one day catch Larry, but that's a ton of water that needs to fly under the bridge before they get there...
And in terms of receptions, Whitten is only 67 behind Larry at present. After that Brown represents the best threat and he's nearly 500 catches behind Larry! Wow...

He shouldn't have a problem getting the 78 yards he needs for another thousand yard season in the remaining games. Say he gets 100.

He would only need then 523 to get number 2 - his lowest year ever was 784.

Barring injury, if he plays one more year he will be #2

I said it in the off season, I think that larry has a lot more in the tank than 1 year, but 2018 he will play because there is the number 2 spot and there is no one that will take that one away from him in the next 10 years.

If Fitz has 3 good games with 270 yards in total and next year another 1k season he has about 16.5k so that is 16 seasons worth of 1k ... incredible feast and I think even Antonio Brown will have problems to catch larry (would need another 5 1.2k+ yards seasons and he is already 29, 30 before the next season starts, and with 5'10 I'm not sold he can play at this level another 4 years)and else I don't see anyone at the moment that could beat out Larry Legend.

Agree, but AB could catch him thing is Big Ben I don’t see being around so AB may have to jump around to good QBs to make it happen.
