If this was 1998-2005 they would have the best team in baseball!

2B-Kent would be batting around .300 with 28+ HRs and 100+ RBIs
SS-Garciappara would be over .310 with 25+ HRs and 100+ RBIs
OF-Manny would be absolutely killing the ball
OF- Andru Jones would look like a HOFer offensively and defensively, not a .160 hitter with a career .260 and dropping average.

P-Loaiza might throw a good ball game every once in while
P-Lowe might win you 20 games

the only scary thing about this team is that they have veterans, but also a lot of guys that have been problems in dugouts between Manny, Kent, Garciaparra.

The West is ours to lose...

Good point but this just shows we have a very bright future with our young guys. Hopefully the growing pains are almost done and then we can just enjoy baseball. Obviously there will always be hard times and slumps, but I think this team has definitely matured.

Yeah congrats to the dodgers for guting their farm for a player they'll only be able to keep for a couple of months :)

I still don't think their pitching is good enough. I agree with BJ, west is ours to lose.

haha great post. manny is still scary though. but if our offense keeps going how it has been thus far on this trip, a manny homer won't be the end of the game.

SUlax and I were kind of scared. before the at bat we said, either home run or double play, nothing inbetween. It was that kind of feeling where everything was going to go storybook for the dodgers, or the best possible ending for the diamondbacks and it went to us!

Saying the trade doesn't scare you is one thing but saying they "gutted" their farm is pretty laughable.

No matter what they get out of Manny it was worth the risk as they pay him nothing for the season and gave up two marginal prospects. In fact the Red Sox gave up two better prospects in the deal to get RID of Manny.

They might not win with West but this was a no brainer for LA.

This was a good trade for LA. They didn't gut the farm. They gave up LaRoche, who probably wasn't ever going to play because DeWitt seems to be their future guy @ 3B and that pitcher in it, Morris, is nothing but just a decent prospect. They still have their core young guys, and still have the young guys in the minors like McDonald that they didn't want to give up.

They gave up more in the Casey Blake trade (Meloan and Santana)

My take is that the Dodgers had a crowded outfield going into the season and it is still further crowded. Manny will hustle his first few games with the team, but will then revert to being "Manny" when he realizes he was traded from the defending champs to a sub 500 ball club

If our players just focus on themselves, fixing the mental lapses, and work to improve, what the Dodgers do or don't do should be irrelevant.

True, tell the D-backs to worry about your own performance before you worry about everyone else's. The D-backs must not let Manny's arrival in LA to get to them. If they start thinking, "oh no, the Dodgers got big bad Manny and now there so good and everyone has crowned them champs already, BYE-BYE PLAYOFFS  ". If they think like that for one second, they're doomed.

The Dodgers and D'backs were very parallel in their mediocrity this season -- .500 baseball.

The Dodgers added a cleanup hitter -- one of the best -- and an everyday third baseman.

Our D'backs added a setup man and a backup first baseman.

That's the fact, Jack. Advantage: Dodgers.

OK, give up, then. Season's over. You win.
Stop it, Desert Rat. I root for the D'backs every game.

Don't you find it disappointing that we were not able to do what the Dodgers did?

Mark Grace just said that Manny has brought alot of energy to the team. 4-for-4 with a HR so far today.

"Give up"? "Season's over?" "You win?" You're taking out your aggression against the wrong people. It's not the fans who did it.
