Adding depth to the secondary and competition on special teams, the Arizona Cardinals recently signed cornerback Jaylon Jones to a one-year contract after the Chicago Bears elected not to tender him as a restricted free agent.

An undrafted free agent in 2022, Jones played 41 games with five starts for the Bears. Four of those starts were in his rookie season.

In 2024, Jones played eight games with one start, but suffered a shoulder injury and was placed on injured reserve Nov. 7 for the remainder of the season.

The last two years, he played 76 and 66 percent of the snaps on special teams in the games he played.

Jones’ contract is worth $1.2 million and includes a $50,000 signing bonus and a $50,000 offseason workout bonus to go with a $1.1 million minimum base salary for players with three credited seasons.

The salary-cap charge is $1.2 million.

For the 14 signed players with published contract details (Jones, Royce Newman, Zay Jones, Simi Fehoko, Jacoby Brissett, Dalvin Tomlinson, Josh Sweat, Baron Browning, Mykal Walker, L.J. Collier, Evan Brown, Akeem Davis-Gaither, Joey Blount and Aaron Brewer) plus the 1-year restricted free-agent tender for Greg Dortch, the total cap hit this year is $50.445 million.

We are still waiting for official figures for addition Jake Curhan along with re-signed player Kelvin Beachum.
