We may not have to wait much longer to find out where former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp will be playing next season. Kupp was just released on Wednesday and a decision seems to be imminent, with the receiver wasting little time picking his next team.
He hasn’t been lacking suitors, according to reports, with various teams like the Broncos, Saints, Patriots and Jaguarsall being linked to Kupp throughout the process. However, two teams have seemingly emerged as the favorites.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Dallas Cowboys are now making a push to sign Kupp. Schefter also notes that a decision could come as early as today.
Kupp’s former coach at Eastern Washington, Junior Adams, is the Cowboys’ wide receivers coach, so there’s a connection between those two.
Another team that’s firmly in the mix is the Seattle Seahawks. Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports that in addition to the Cowboys, the Seahawks are also “very interested” in signing Kupp and a decision is expected today.
The Seahawks are a division rival, of course, but Kupp is from Washington so he’d be returning home to the Pacific Northwest. As painful as it would be for Rams fans to watch Kupp play in a Seahawks uniform, it could be his preferred landing spot geographically, and Seattle also parted ways with both Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf this offseason.
Kupp, 31, still believes he has plenty of good football left in him and with such a strong market in free agency, it seems teams believe he can still play, too.
