Reading rumblings that the Mavs might pursue Durant this summer.

I'd be all over that. Picks and pick swaps from them are likely to be really juicy... especially if they gut their team for Durant. Kyrie is old, Durant is old, AD is getting old and made of glass. That team isn't winning anything of import in the near term and if they dump a bunch of picks then they are going to be hot garbage in a couple years.

But, it's twitter rumblings, odds are it's BS. Not really sure how they'd make the money work.

Yup. That would be the perfect team to trade him to, with future picks being the key to the deal.

Then turnaround and deal Book to the Rockets for all of our picks back and we can a proper rebuild. No need to watch us be the Bradley Beal Washington Wizards with Book playing the Beal’s old role… with the corpse of old Beal beside him.

And before any of that happens, pray to god that Ishbia pulls his head out of his butt, fires James Jones and somehow finds a competent GM who can make good with the picks we’d get back for KD/Booker.

They could trade us ALL those picks they got for Luka!!! Oops, no. I wonder if Mavs fans think their trade was worse than us getting KD? At least KD has been putting up points for us, and has been relatively injury free by KD standards.

For the record, KD was injured when we traded for him and missed his first 6 games here before debuting. He played in 3 games and was taken out for a month while in the layup line. He missed 10 games then. He played in 5 games before being sat for the final 2. Giving him a total of 8 out 26 games. We'll see if AD can beat that before the playoffs start. The West playoff race is tighter so I don't think he'll get any rest games at the very end.

I thought he got injured in the layup line before he had played a single game...or maybe that was just supposed to be his home debut.

The wrath of Dallas fans may be even worse.

How does one explain trading a young superstar in Luka for no good reason other than money?

Is KD the most overrated player of all time?
You can't call a player that put up the numbers he has overrated. He is one of the best of all time. Period end of discussion. He didn't get it done here. That is not entirely on him. This front office sucks.

What about putting his team on his shoulders resulting in team wins? He appears content to put up his numbers win or lose.

The team around him sucks. You can't do it alone. Book has had an off year and teams in this era are deep. KD is not responsible for the construction of the team around him. That is the FO. They thought they could put garbage around 2 players and not worry about defense. Even Lebron couldn't get it done as great as he is until he had enough guys around him.

Durant is Carmelo with a better publicist. Very similar numbers and results as a team's #1 option. If Carmelo elected ride Lebron's coattails in Miami then they'd each have 2 rings.
.
That’s a little harsh. I do believe KD is overrated all time but he was literally better than Melo at everything. Melo was an elite stationary scorer and never a perennial MVP candidate. Let’s say the Pistons draft him instead of Darko and he’s probably looking at a career with multiple titles.

I think you absolutely can.

As other's mentioned, Carmelo Anthony put up monster numbers, but I think Carmelo shouldn't even sniff the hall of fame, he is an all time empty stat player.

Durant isn't in that territory of overrated, but the people that try to put him as a top 10 player all time are out of their gourd. He's a great shooter, he puts up stats, he's not a leader or team player by any sense, and on any given night you gotta take away 6-12 points off his contribution to account for him just tossing the ball to the wrong team for a free basket. I have truly never seen a "superstar" who is as sloppy with the ball as he is. And his decision to join the Warriors did catastrophic damage to his legacy... especially when they went and won another title after he left.

Having watched both players, IMO, Chris Paul is a significantly better and more impactful player than Kevin Durant... and I don't think the comparison is even close. Chris Paul is probably the best player to not win a ring.
