Sorry for the Fox link. It's why I don't go into the politics forum ;)

"I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.," he wrote.

What are they going to get for him, a warm six pack?
given the contract, not even that

this feels like the first step in what eventually will be his release

Kupp is probably due a bonus on or near the first day the league year, so thats why the announcement was made now

the Rams owe Kupp a $7.5mm roster bonus on March 15

the salary for 2025 and 2026 is $12.5 and $14.9 - and he is due another $5mm bonus next year in March. For a guy who has appeared in 12 games each of the last two years.

i have a hard time seeing a team pony up draft capital for the contract

He could fit here. However, somebody will overpay him either in a trade or salary.
That being said, he’s a very smart receiver, knows how to read coverages and would be ideal in the intermediate routes. I wouldn’t be sad to see him here, but don’t worry, it’s never going to happen.

I'd like to bring in Adam Thielen. He's 35 now but he was never fast so hasn't lost it. Still had over 60 yards per game last year.

He's exactly the kind of receiver Kyler needs and shouldn't cost much. He's not FA but expected to be cut.

How are we going to fit Kupp, Thielen, Max Crosby, PP21, Tyreek Hill, Alex Highsmith, and Myles Garrett under our cap?

Actually, I was thinking how Kupp could be our Thielan. But Kupp will be overpaid.

You'd really like Michael Wilson to be our Kupp/Theilen. Wilson has had very Kupp-like rate stats over the past three seasons.
AND, I think the added WR has to introduce some deep threat element to their game

That's another reason I want Thielen. Mike can learn a lot from him.

Would LOVE him with us, but sadly your 2nd assessment is correct.

They have $40 million in cap space in 2025 with 56 players under contract.

Kupp is likely a June 1 cut designee.
Still not great saving for a June 1 cut designee, but better than the $25 million in dead money to cut him now. According to OTC, trading him before is the same savings for them as a post June 1 cut, so it makes sense to try and get something back. It looks like he will count $12 million against the cap for anyone that trades for him this next season, but about $20 million in 2026. The Raiders could make sense since he seems like a Pete Carrol type of player, they need weapons and have the space.

Some compares to their first two years.
