I have been pushing for this for a while, and it's documented through my posts. If we aren't going to pass to said TE, than why let our TE get blown up by the League's best pass rushers coming from the edge? It also gives Cooper some gametime, and truly maximizes our protection. Goodwin is hinting that it might happen more:

“He did pretty good last week. I was proud of him,” Goodwin said. “The biggest thing is that I tell him, when your time comes, make sure you are ready. Because you don’t want to fail. He’s getting closer and closer, and we’ll see if he gets out there at tight end again.”

Question is... will he actually catch a ball... and would you want to tackle him?? :D

Who says they don't read the Forums, I suggested they use Cooper as a tight end, and then a couple days later...boom! :D

Posted on November 17th, on "the other" Cardinals Forum...

But... just in the nick of Kiem.... just to be fraudulently journalistically objective about one thing/something... just to not go 110% absolute Cardinal homer in this thread... I won't mention that one guy.. that one guy who just called for another fair catch... yet aGinn. And maybe we can bring Cooper in as a tight end on run plays, but I joke, I kid.

I'm done now, I promise, be sure to tip the staff, drive safe...

If we're putting him in as a pass catching TE then these TEs are worse than I thought, and I don't think highly of them to begin with.

Cooper was used as a blocking TE the few plays he was in. Normally that TE would help seal the edge on outside runs but they had him going upfield off the tackle to create blocks at the second level, the way he would normally be used as a pulling guard.

He hasn't looked great, at guard, when he's pulling, at least earlier in the year. Yes, he was athletic and got upfield, but had issues figuring out who to block. He was roaming in space.

My opinion is that this is just a way to get him acclimated in space, without having to worry about being cut down at the knees by a defensive tackle or LB while pulling across the line.

We have some good blocking receivers, and if Coop can prove he can climb levels and block as a TE I can see us using this should we make the playoffs.

Also tells you what they think of hands-of-stone Housler. Can't block and they think Coop has comparable speed off the line to get to the next level. Tells you more about Housler than Coop. Housler is DONE here.

I still find it hard to believe that BA and Goodwin haven't shaken up the interior of the line. I know continuity is highly valued on the O-line, but Larsen, Fanaika, and Sendlein have really been pushed around especially in the run game.
