Law enforcement officers are trading their holsters and badges and fire and rescue workers their protective gear and helmets for skates and sticks this April. Just for a day so they can settle things on ice and raise money for charity at the annual Guns 'N Hoses hockey game.
Whether it's in the boxing ring or hockey rink, the men and women who protect and tend to the citizens of Northeast Florida get together in a friendly (or not-so-friendly) battle of toughness, skills and athleticism. The camaraderie and competitiveness are evident every year, and it benefits firefighters union and fraternal order of police charities.
Police lead the series 6-5. This year's matchup will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena at 300 A. Philip Randolph Blvd. in Jacksonville's sports and entertainment district.
It's also a double-header as the Jacksonville Iceman take on the Savannah Ghost Pirates the same evening.
For general admission tickets $25 to $42, visit fevo-enterprise.com/event/Guns5.
For Glass seats, suites or group tickets, contact Gerry Brown at [email protected]. Sponsors are also being sought.
