Basically I agree with all that cheese says. I think we are both driving the Brewer bandwagon.

Can I catch a ride with you guys?

Why can't we even think about maybe changing our lineup a bit, or even the style of play? Everyone assumes he'd play PF, but we won't play this style forever.

Brewer would be a great mismatch at the 2 if he gets his shooting touch, and now I think he'd fit as a 3. To have him and Bell on the court at the same time, and if the Suns keep Marion...that's three above average defenders who can all run.

totally agree. And people may not want to believe it, but when Nash is done, so is this system and I don't want to end up as the Lakers or Celtics - with their one star teams, in and out of the 8 or 7 seed every year. As the team is currently constructed they ARE good enough to win a title, thus the pick if we get should be as much about the future as it is the present. Personally, I think Brewer could be an immediate player for no other reason than his defense and athleticism. He'd already be better than James Jones. And then int he future, he and Amare will be the major duo that leads us into the next era. Both guys play with a lot of emotion and come from less than plush childhoods. They'll relate to eachother I think.

I guess I can see a lineup of Nash, Bell, Brewer, Marion & Amare starting next year. He probably wouldn't be any worse than James Jones shooting and should play as good on defense if not better. Even at 185lbs, he's probably tougher than Diaw.

Brewer is my pick for the draft. He is going to by dynamic IMO.

I'm starting to buy into the hype with Brewer, but I still rank the Draft for the Suns need like this...

Horford
Wright
Conley
Brewer
Acie Law
Yi
...
...
...
...
Noah

We have to have a backup Point guard with potential, much sooner than we need a 'Noah'.

i know Ouchie's riding shotgun also. The kid's going to be a mega-stud. He will be the PERFECT compliment to Amare, Leo and Boris in the next era.

no kidding. i OWN the brewer bandwagon. been jocking him since before this past season. but was mistakenly hoping that he'd be there at one of our later selections. that was a pipe dream. but i thought we'd get another michael finley type drop.

One more thought in general on this draft: The history of the NBA draft shows success drafting in the Top 10 has almost everything to do with common sense, and almost nothing to do with all the measurements and timings they accumulate. If a player is good at one level and has the athletic ability to play at the next level, they will probably reach a solid potential at the next level. If they're a 7-foot power forward that only grabbed 6 rebounds in college, it's unlikely they will exceed that in the pros.

Furthermore, you have to be wary of guys who had one good tournament after a so-so career or a shaky season. The Suns drafted Ed Pinckney almost entirely based on his performance against Georgetown in the title game and his performance at the Portsmouth Invitational. They overlooked what he'd done for four seasons. Big mistake. Three picks later a guy named Karl Malone was selected after a more productive overall college career.

Long-term performance means something. Potential means much less than we think.

kind of like the Jazz's Millsap who lead the NCAA in rebounding, yet fell to the 2nd round and was a candidate for rookie of the year. Boozer was the same way a few years ago.

Write it down, Brewer will be the next Scottie Pippen. Don't pass on this guy.

I could see him as a taller version of the young Latrell Sprewell, but not Pippen. Was Pippen a bad distributor in college? Remember when people were saying Robert Horry was the next Scottie Pippen?

Boozer lost something like 30 pounds between graduation and the draft. Most scouts dismissed him because he was short and slow with lots of video to prove it.

Millsap and Karl Malone were both big time talents at smaller schools. Malone was still a relatively high pick but Millsap was pretty much under the radar last summer. I can't remember any mock draft putting him in the the first round.

If you read the nbadraft.net profile, you can see why he did not go that high. http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/paulmilsap.html

NBA Comparison: Malik Rose
Strengths: Tremendous rebounder who gives great effort every time out ... Long arms and good strength and leaping ability allow him to play bigger than his actual size ... Crashes the boards extremely hard, especially on the offensive end ... Has a real knack for anticipating boards, great reflexes ... Offensive skills inside are good, has a decent mid range jump shot out to 12 feet ... Good scorer, finisher, has good touch around the basket with contact ... Has good agility, runs the floor well. Solid in transition ... Explosive leaper ... Solid defender, holds position well, doesn't bite on fakes ... Offensively creates a wide target inside and seals his man well ...

Weaknesses: Listed at 6-8 but closer to 6-7, far below standard for an NBA power forward ... His size is his biggest detriment ... Lacks great passing ability ... Doesn't play a high caliber of opponent on a regular basis in the WAC ... Free throw shooting is below average ... A true power forward, lacks the foot speed to play the 3 position ... Likely to struggle to get the same inside shots and rebounds against bigger and more athletic players on the next level ...

Notes: Led the nation in rebounding as a freshman and sophomore and has increased upon those numbers as a junior. (Could be the first player to ever lead the nation in rebounding 3 consecutive seasons.)

It helps when a guy goes to the right team and the right coach.

I really think that Corey Brewer would be exactly the type of player that the suns would like. His shooting percentage man not have been extremely high, but he has improved in that regard and he is the type who is willing to work to improve even more. What he does have is a ridiculous wingspan, a knack for strong defense and he can finish around the basket. This guy running the fast break with Nash and Marion would be amazing. I really hope that we get the Atlanta pick 4-6 and pick up Brewer.

Noah's stock has dropped enough that the Suns could potentially package their two later picks for him.

I think Noah will go very early or drop a lot. Late teens is not out of the question, but I doubt he falls to 24. IMHO, Noah is a going to a career backup but potentially a very valuable one on a running team.

Well it wouldn't make much sense for the Suns to package their two late picks to get him at 24, would it?
