I agree on the Floyd haters. We had the worst QB and oline situation in the league. Even Fitz was bad.
What I like about Floyd is his physicality, he is a serious blocker, and is a big target with a poor man's Fitz hands. I think he will be a very solid receiver for us.
he was billed as "the poor man's Fitz", and the best WR going into the draft. He had to work with a 1st year WR coach, a HC that hates rookies, an OC that got stripped of his play-calling duties, 4 different QBs behind a line that was just awful. The guy didn't have a chance last year. This might as well be his rookie season all over again. As poorly as the passing game looked last year, somehow Andre Roberts STILL impressed the crap out of me. Going into last year, I wouldn't have minded in the slightest if both he and Doucet were let go, but he really came into his own and is a legit threat out there. If Floyd is as good as he's supposed to be, the WR trio COULD very well rival the Fitz/Q/Breaston one. and if Swope can be the occasional fast threat he was drafted to be, we could have some real weapons out there. But everything else is still less promising. Our line is undoubtedly improved, but to what extent? Improving from worst in the league doesn't mean they'll be actually good. We have no proven run game. Mendenhall WAS good, but often hurt, hopefully he can make an impact. As far as the other 3, all we know is they have talent, and that Williams is also often hurt. We have no idea if any of the 3 can legitimately play at the NFL level. Lastly, we have an aging QB who we don't know if he has anything left in the tank (I believe he does. But my opinion has as much weight as a balloon on the moon). I hope those positions hold up this season. If they do, our offense could be pretty scary to be honest
and now as far as the thread and the CBs. I'm glad to see Bethel is getting good reps. I thought he was a raw physical talent with a LOT of upside last year. Reading about Arenas, he made me think of a poor man's Mathieu. Small, but quick/fast and athletic with a lot of heart and a GREAT return man (fun fact: 2nd most punt-return TDs with 7. Behind Antonio Perkins and Wes Welker tied at 8). I'm guessing the coaching staff is hoping he can be our slot corner. Bethel has a shot at being our #2 corner given his size and ability. I didn't expect much from him since we picked up Cason and Powers, but maybe, hopefully, he really elevated his game. Fleming seems to be a disappointment which is a shame, but even still, our CB pool appears to be very very deep. Maybe we can trade a couple of the lesser guys away for draft picks before cutting time like we did with Jefferson last year
