IMO Marion's been very consistent this summer. He's always been willing to be traded, as long as that trade came with a giant extension for #31.

Any potential trade partners will have to either negotiate an extension with Marion first or not care whether he opts out in 2008 or leaves in 2009 (Utah fell in the second category).

I'm still not sure what happened to the Marion trade rumor regarding him going to the Celtics (prior to Garnett). I do think Marion messed up that trade.

I only believe one thing. I think he is a much better all-around player than Rashard Lewis and he got the money he wanted. I think some team will cough up a trade for Marion either this year or next year.

Lewis is younger and was a better fit, due to his outside shooting. At the time Marion's extension would kick in, he'll be 31 years old.

You guys reading way to much into that article! No where does it say he is willing to accept a trade or is bitter. That whole article is crap says nothing except Shawn isn't here early, so what alot of vets don't show up early. If he came early and got injured in hard practice then everyone would be pissed he was working out before he had too. People just need to let it go they are not trading Marion right now maybe after this season but not now. We may get one of his best years ever if he is trying to earn a new contract (either with us or someone else)! Whatever this is a silly thread for a article that really said nothing substantial.

Lead-ins from Coro's article:
...... "by all accounts"
...... "but that's hearsay"
...... "according to several Suns sources"
...... "the word is"
...... "there are indications"

Sounds like he subscribes to the Peter Vecsey approach to stirring the pot, except he forgot the usual
...... "if my information is correct"......

Still, a good way to make a lot of people happy for another excuse to rant.

Paul's just reporting what Suns staffers are telling him. He's not reporting the ramblings of a meddling player agent. Second, Paul is an actual human being known for random acts of kindness. Peter is ... well, if my sources are correct, he eats children for breakfast.

I was going to say...For people to question Paul Coro's integrity or reporting, well, they're quite a bit off there.

I'd rather have the inconsistent injured guy who can actually play defense.

i agree - if it were any other coach besides DA, maybe Odom, but he just wouldn't fit this offense. Playing for DA, Marion's position needs to be a garbage man, who can run, and be able to swing to play a couple different positions on D. That's basically what Andrei is, except he brings more blocks and probably a little worse offense.

That being said, if he's healthy, and he can play that kind of D, I don't think we'd miss Marion's points all that much as the slack could easily be picked up by giving the ball to Amare (getting him back to 25-7 points per), along with another 5-7 points from the three spot, assuming Hill stays healthy.

And if we were able to get another guy like a Giricek along with Andrei and could unload Banks deal, it would help depth wise as well.

I mean if our team looked like this:

Nash
Bell
Hill
Kirilenko
Amare

Barbs
Diaw
Skinner
Giricek

That's a pretty damn good lineup, with pretty great depth and three point shooting.

For what it's worth, LA radio this morning reported a similar rumor about Marion, except this one was for Odom and Radmanovic, not Brian Cook, as Coro speculated.

I'd rather have the healthy, talented, rebounding drama queen.

The best thing the Suns can do is laugh it off and go out and play. If he opts out, move on. Its 17 million less things to worry about.

When you are pissed off you are less likely to play through the small, nagging injuries.

We'll see how "healthy" Marion is this season.

if Vlad and Odom were healthy, I wouldn't mind this, but again, Odom's not and who knows what Vlad is (and he's got a somewhat bad contract) and in this deal, we've got to be getting rid of Banks in that deal as well.

If we can swing a Kirilenko deal.. ah, we should just make him freaking play and play his ass off if he wants 20 million from some sucker. The team is set, we're ready to roll with Skinner. Let's roll the dice again!

What is odom's injury status right now? Is it just the knee? Is he recovering from surgery?

There can't be any substance to Marion/Odom rumors, because the Lakers don't want Marion. Kirilenko is still a possibility because the Jazz probably have to do something.

He had offseason shoulder surgery. He played a lot of the end of the regular season and playoffs with a bum shoulder.

i think he's still recovering from shoulder surgery that he had after the playoffs and that he played with most of last season. dude's almost always injured, missing a ton of games. Chap would probably know more on his status as I haven't been in LA for the last three weeks.

WHAT?

Are we talking about the same 6'10-6'11 Odom? Who can run an offense as well or better than most backup PGs, can shoot much better than Kirilenko, can rebound rather well and is decent defensively.

Odom when healthy does everything better than Kirilenko except help defense and shotblocking.

I don't see how you could possibly have a better starting 4 than Odom if healthy in D'Antonis system save Garnett.

Unlike Diaw, Odom is a much better shooter and all-around offensive player that can co-exist much better with Amare.

Also Odom is big enough to guard Duncan, maybe not too well, but he has the size to guard him in the post unlike Kirilenko who really isn't that great of a man-to-man defender and obviously way too weak to guard Duncan.

Also who says Odom can't run? His Clippers teams and Heat teams seemed to be running teams.

I'll definately take Odom over Kirilenko. The injury problems with Odom are smaller, his contract is better, he didn't threaten to break his contract and his teammate didn't single him out and blast his work ethic.

If we had to take on Radmanovic with Odom, I'd want the Lakers first round pick at least.

Odom has had major surgeries to both knees, he doesnt run well anymore. A young Odom, sure, but this is 2007, he an older, gimpier Odom. You wont find any recent film with him getting out on the break, he's one of the last ones down the floor. Add he cant guard the '3' or anyone with a dribble move on the perimeter(and dont give me marion as an example), and he only helps out on big slow guys when he's nearby.

I actually like AK coming on help against Duncan, he could get some nice blocks on Duncan from the weak side, make Timmy adjust. AK can defend Horry, Bowen, oberto or Bonner and help on TD.

Was it on the Loose Cannons? If so, what hour? I'm going to download the podcast to see what VTB thought of it, I love his insights.

No idea. I was told about it by a Laker fan.

As for Odom, I find nothing that says he isn't recovering well from his shoulder surgery, which he played through the last month of the season.

Odom is probably a little broken down, but you can't ignore the fact that when motivated, he can be pretty damn good. He dominated us for 2 years, remember.

Other than the fact we'll never trade Marion to a team in our division... it sounds good.
