We’ve all looked at the danger of the O-line deficiencies letting the pass rush injure Murray. That’s not the only way it could happen. Consider there’s 3 minutes left in the game. The Cards have the lead and the ball. Kill the clock and they win. The problem is this O-line isn’t good enough to run out the clock. I’m betting we see RPOs, during which Murray chooses to resort to his history and he will run the ball. The more he runs the more likely he is to be injured. This is especially true if he stays in bounds struggling for a first down. Other teams know he’s the key and will hit him hard. We can only hope this exposure doesn’t have dire consequences.

Players will play to excel. Injuries are going to happen and I don’t think an athlete is going to play safe motto get hurt. Garrapolo got hurt running out of bounds.

Murray has shown the knack of getting down or running out of bounds and he will continue to do that. If I’m worried about anything it would be a hit he doesn’t see coming.

I see your point but Murray has a hyper active survival gene thus far so I doubt he does any fighting for extra yards. He might misjudge the speed of some defenders and get hit before he can get down or out of bounds but I think he adjusts to this quickly.

My biggest fear is that this O Line gets Murray injured early in the season and then we have the rest of the year watching terrible football patiently waiting for next year to arrive so we can see if this time Keim’s 2020 high O Line draft picks and high priced O Line free agents actually pay off and show massive improvement or will the injuries and draft pick busts continue to hurt this team in general and Murray in particular.

It’s early to talk about this but we need to use our cap space to sign competent established offensive linemen. Can’t wait for rookies to develop.

Murray is small and runs a lot and may get hurt. Other quarterbacks are big and never run.... they also get hurt.

we need to find out if this kid can play in the nfl...risk be damned, play to win or go the fudge home.

Let’s hope Murray is as durable as Russell Wilson has been throughout his career.

Those are usually not in free agency, but if they are they cost obscene money.

Agree, plus, when Murray has taken contact, he's proven to be fairly durable so far.

He of course doesn't have the RG III, long, lanky build. He's compact, and fairly stout. He can withstand some punishment.

Harry's right that he's our most valuable asset, and any play call should consider the risk/reward. If were down 21 with seven minuets left in the fourth quarter, I wouldn't call a play where he's likely to take a shot.

But if we're down three with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter, even if we're 3-9 at that point in the season, all play calls are still on the table. Losing is too corrosive, and has to be avoided at (almost) all costs.

Let’s be clear just one more time. Murray is as elusive as any QB ever, but he is a passer first, not a runner. So, if Murray chooses to resort to his history, he will only run if he absolutely has to.
