How can Shell be fired? He has had one yr and absolutely no personnel on Offense to work with. I hate the Raiders, but Shell should at least be given a chance.

He has a boatload of talent on offense. Unfortunately, Brooks got hurt early and any semblance of hope they had at the QB position was shattered at that time.

If anything, Oakland is even more crippled than the Cardinals by poor coaching, especially at the assistant and coordinator level. Nobody in their right mind is going to take that job, so he's prolly better off keeping Shell. How many turn downs did Davis get last offseason? I recall at least a half dozen. It's a coaching graveyard.

Saints got rid of Brooks and Haslet. They got Brees and Sean Payton. Saints are in the playoffs. So much for Brooks.

IMO the hottest seat belongs to Green, simply because of the talent on the team. No excuses for multiple cordinators regardless of the Bidwills. Now I know that the blame for Dennys goodby will be blamed on the cheap Bidwills sp it wont matter much to the media idiots. Cheap Bidwills it is. They will say that we over paid him and didn't give him enough control regardless of truth or not.

:lmao:

Im sorry but the loss of Fitz was not the reason for this mess. Its was a contibutor for sure. But hardly the main reason.
Shane,

I think Fritz being out had a major effect of the offensive. The defensive was able to neutral Q and with the lack of an OL we could not run. Basically we had no offensive weapons.

For all intents and purpose there will only be 3 HC jobs available even if Shell is fired and Cowher retires (those two jobs would be filled internally).

Gruden isn't going anywhere

Green, Mora, and Coughlin (his job could go either way at this point. His fate depends on the new GM) are the only ones likely to fired and have outside candidates fill their vacancies

After winning the Superbowl he was hamstrung by 2 things. The Bucs gave up a lot in the way of draft picks to get him. 2 firsts and either 2 2nds or a 2nd + a 3rd. Those are the picks you build your team with. They got old without young talent to keep them competitive.

Second, they mortgaged the future to win a title and ended up in cap hell. This is the first year they have any cap room to bring in quality free agents.

If the Washington job isn't open for Mora I wouldn't mind having him here. I think he's a good coach but he has an anchor named Mike Vick tied around his neck.

I've been thinking the same thing. I wouldn't mind Mora as a HC.

What about Parcells? He and T.O. won't be together next year, and we all knowT.O. is Jerry's guy. Parcells has not delivered in Dallas like people thought. I think Parcells stays, but anything is possible, especially if Dallas misses the playoffs.

I would fall over and feint if Jones picked Mr. Owens over Mr. Parcell. I know someone will, but I can't imagine anyone acquiring Owens. Oooops I forgot about Daniel Snyder.

Or Al Davis. He's still living in the 70's and thinks anybody with a bad attitude will flourish on the Raiders. I could easily see Owens out of football next year. What coach would want to have that guy on his team?

Green is gone.

Mora is gone. He and Blank have been fighting over the use of Vick for two years. The disapointing season and Mora's comments about he would leave the Falcons anyday to coach Washington means Blank will choose Vick over Mora.

Crennel gets another year IMO.

Cowher retires.

Shell is probably gone.

Coughlin is gone.

BUT!!! The Steelers will promote from within and rumor is that the Raiders will do the same with Ryan.

So in reality there's only 3 job openings.

I too have heard the rumor that Rob Ryan is likely to be promoted to the head coaching job in Oakland. He has done a fantastic job with a unit that ranked dead last when he arrived, and if I am not mistaking are currently fourth in the NFL. Russ Smith would probably have the best information since he lives in the Bay area.

I read an article yesterday out of Baltimore that his brother Rex is also in the rumor mill as a potential head coaching canidate. Funny, I thought these two guys couldn't coach. We all know they were hired in Arizona because of nepotism.

This would put the Cowher thing in question.
Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt's name has surfaced in Atlanta as a candidate to replace Jim Mora if, as expected, he is fired soon after the season ends. Whisenhunt, 44, was born in Atlanta, played at Georgia Tech and played his first four seasons in the NFL as a tight end for the Falcons.

Then there is this ditty;
A Giant leap?
The boys at profootballtalk.com throw up - then shoot down - rumors that New England Patriots [team stats] head coach Bill Belichick could bolt back to the New York Giants.
Citing “a league source,” the Web site says that the move, “per the rumors, would entail a package deal of Belichick and Pats V.P. of player personnel Scott Pioli” to the GM-less Giants.
Of course, the site points out that Robert and Jonathan Kraft would most certainly block such a move and that Belichick’s contract - although never publicly discussed - is not believed to be in its last year.
But the one point left uncovered is the fact that a move to New Jersey would put the gridiron guru a lot closer to his alleged paramour, Sharon Shenocca, who lives in Morristown.
In fact, according to Shenocca’s estranged hubby - who accused his wife of adultery with Belichick in divorce papers - the two met when Sharon was a receptionist for the Giants and Belichick was the defensive coordinator.
Well, someone had to point this out . . . .
