Assuming the Cards wanted to take Austin in the first do you guys think the Cards could get a first for Floyd and do you believe they should if they draft Austin?

I don't think I would want them to do it, but I certainly believe that they could get a first round pick if they decided to make that trade. Floyd was the 2nd rated WR in last years draft and some had him rated first and he showed promise at the end of the season.

His value dissipated when he played in our sorry offense last season. No one is going to give us first-round value for him. He's better on this team than off, and we're better off drafting an offensive lineman rather than trying to get cute with the #7 pick.

Sorry CardsSunsDbacks, nothing personal, but i think its rediculous to even have a convo about Tavon. That is the strongest position on the entire team. Not to mention, most believe Tavon is not worthy of a top 15 pick. Even if we pass on him and he turns into Adrian Pedersen part II i wouldnt be bitter. He doesnt fit the BPA philosiphy and he definitely doesnt fit the need philosiphy. Id far rather upgrade a run game and pass pro with a stud OL then stack a position with more hands than we can feed.

I'll take Floyd and Johnson/Fisher/Warmack over Austin and Reiff.

I seem to like Floyd a lot better than most though.

I'm right there with you on Floyd, but I guess that's obvious because I seem to be the only one that believes he would be worth a first round pick in a trade.

Also when I say 1st round pick I am thinking more like late first and not top 15 or anything quite that high, but a team with a pick in the 25-30 range might be willing to part ways with their pick for Floyd.

Michael Floyd is looked at as a bad pick by casual fans but once our QB play improves he'll put up numbers on a consistent basis... The #32 ranked offense even made Fitz look mediocre. I'm actually more worried about our ability to re-sign Roberts.

Lol, they'd be lucky to get a 4th round pick for him.

Agreed.

Not to mention it would cost the Cardinals $5,892,250.00 against the cap to move him.

Make him put on 10 lbs and make him a TE. He blocks better then Housler anyway :D

This... Lol.

That's what I like about Floyd. He is a very physical blocker, paired with Fitz, we have two big strong possession receivers that are difference makes in the run game. They will standout in short yardage, and redzone situations, with Palmer on board.

Now if we could add a burner (3rd round or later)on the inside and another good TE to pair with Housler.

Quit making stuff up. Not ONE so-called expert gives Austin a second round grade. Every single one I have seen/heard believes he will be gone no later than the 16th pick.

Hint: If you really don't want to discuss Tavon, don't read, and certainly don't reply, to the threads that have his name attached. Kinda makes sense, don't you think?

1st round picks are like cars. Only a few are worth the same or more after you ride them off the lot, but most loss a ton of value the moment you take them off the lot. Andrew Luck is the Rolls Royce, while most other picks are like Kia's.

No, they would not trade Floyd.

But if they drafted Austin (and this is only a "what if" scenerio), it would shock me to see them trade Andre Roberts. They'd probably receive at least a 4th, hopefully a 3rd.

Sometimes we fall in love with a player whether it's the hype or the talent. As much as I'd like to see Austin on this team he simply is at the bottom of the list based on need.

Every WR on this team under-performed and most it had nothing to do with their effort or desire.

Andre Roberts will excel this year in the slot. Floyd will improve leaps and bounds and we will see the "old" Fitz back this year.

And no..we would not get a #1 pick for Floyd.

Floyd is looked at as a bad pick by involved fans as well. Not because of his talent level but because of the position he plays along with there being several other BPA's at positions where the Cards weren't as strong when Floyd was selected.

Now that he's here I think Floyd is a perfect fit for Arians offense especially because of his blocking skills. If he makes the usual improvement by WRs from year one to year two he'll be just fine and isn't a guy the Cards would want to let go.

No and no. My guess is that after last season Floyd is going to have to prove it on the field before he's considered a guy you trade a first round pick for. He's obviously got talent but he spent his entire rookie year lining up wrong and running the wrong routes, that concerns NFL teams.

It would be absolutely moronic to trade Floyd at this point in time. The first year is always the least productive for a WR. Floyd will be very good this year & don't be surprised if his numbers eclipse Fitz's the following year. Arians & Palmer will love this guy.

Floyd had an outstanding game in Week 17.. I'm looking forward to seeing if he can build on that rather than thinking about trading him.

I'm right there with you, but this thread is written with the assumption of drafting TA. Bottom line is if they draft TA than either Floyd or Roberts is going to be expendable. The only reason I made the thread about Floyd is because we would get more trading him than Roberts. Though they could still keep both anyways since neither is making all that much anyways.

Austin is a slot receiver only. You would have to keep Floyd since he plays the outside.

Last nine games of their rookie year:

Receiver A:
32 receptions
471 yards

Receiver B:
33 receptions
483 yards

Receiver A: Michael Floyd
Receiver B: Calvin Johnson

What does this mean? Almost nothing, except for that we should give the guy a chance.

I expect big things from him with a year under his belt, and an adequate QB like Palmer.
