With Skorp's report that Johnson is looking good and 2 of our 3 early picks last year used on WR's could we surprise everyone and draft Winslow as our TE.Green was impressed by him and the guy can flat play.He had about the best game i have seen a TE have against Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. He's better than Shockey and look at the effect he has had.I realize it may only happen if Fitz is gone and probably in a trade down scenario but i could easily see Fitz and Winslow being the Cards 1-2 rated players come draft day.

Good points. However, we still need a #3 no matter what - either FA or the draft.

I'd take Winslow over Fitz, Manning, Roethlisberger, Mike Williams.
And I'd put him about even with Taylor, Jackson, Wilfork (I'd throw Gallery in there, but I don't think we should take him).

I would rather the Cards draft Ben,Taylor,Wilfork,Udeze before the Cards drafts this clown. He's a timebomb and will be a distraction. He's a TO clone but younger. No thanks.

I agree with you that Winslow could be the pick if Fitz is gone and the Cards trade down. Additionally, it also depends on Mike Williams workout numbers in April (7th or 8th). Denny has stated that Winslow is one of the so called "playmakers" that the team needs.

Supposedly Ukeze's stock is falling. At least according to USA Today sports weekly it is.

Funny, but Shockey didn't have that much more of an impact than Freddie Jones.

Winslow will be a great player at a complimentary position. Tight ends are never enough of a force to pass on players that are equally rated at other positions.

After Will Smith's workout, IMO he jumped over Udeze.

In fact, if we trade down to #7, I would want either Hall or Smith.

Last year? The year before? This is just plain silly.
Shockey was on pace to catch 80 balls last year, after catching 74 as a rookie.
74 balls at over 12 yards a pop as a rookie. He's redefined the TE position. What kind of impact are you looking for?

This is nuts. Winslow is going to be a match-up nightmare.

Gonzalez redefined the position not Shockey. 2 years in the league doesn't redefined anything. He has to do it for more than 2 years.

Gonzo's production in his third year (his first pro bowl) 76 catches, 849 yards.
Shockey in his rookie year 74 catches, 894 yards.
He's faster, taller, bigger. Just not as good at basketball.

I would be pissed if we took Winslow. He's good but his attitude sucks. He's David Boston in the TE position. I'd be really pissed if we took him at #3. Really, really pissed. He's not the third best player in the draft.

What about Todd

How about Todd Heap? He was an impact player his rookie year with an 1/8th the mouth of Shockey. I've watched Shockey. His statistics may look good, but I still feel he's got some serious work to do as a professional. If a person can make a million plus a year, playing a game no less, then that person had better do it with class. Gonzo, Heap, and the Cards' Jones, all carry themselves well and that at the end of the day, really does matter.

Hear! Hear!

Winslow is also a workout warrior who rarely had an eefect on the outcome of Miami games.

Give me Wilfork.

Anyone who doesn't think Wilfork is the best option among the Miami boys needs to go back and watch their game against FSU in the (whatever bowl it was) bowl.

Watch the second half of the game. All FSU could do was simply run away from him. They couldn't block him, play-fake him, or even slow him down.

You'll also get a good replay of Greg Jones plowing over Taylor.

It might be my bias but I would take Heap over Shockey or Gonzo and he almost fell to us.

I would take Ben, M Will or Fitz with our number 3 and not trade down. But I am no expert.

So,you're basing your evaluations on one half of one game. You can probably find a good half,or quarter for that matter, where any draft elgible player has been dominating.Go back to NC game in 2003 and you'll se Wilfork being a small factor,Sean Taylor making big plays, and Kellen Winslow single handedly keeping the offense in the game. So,i guess that i don't agree with your evaluations. There is no way that Wilfork is as good as prospect as Taylor or Winslow.

How about instead of one year with 70+ catches and one season with a 12+ YPC, how about 5 years with 70+ catches (3x 80+ included, a fistful more at 60-70) and a fourteen year carreer average of 12.3 yards per catch?

Now, that's a TE.
