One of the things a Card fan has to go thru watching the media and getting pissed off.
We got tos tick to everyone again next Sunday
on NFLN kept saying Cardinals will get back to each against Eagles.
This is our biggest regular game, same magnitude as playoffs.

Some of the gloom & doom what-if stuff is a leftover of The old Cards Corner "Cardinal Curse."

But you also see it among Giants fans (who are some of the least obnoxious fans in the nation). Instead of bragging about Eli or Cruz or whatever, they pick apart some irrelevent botched play or wonder out loud what life would be like if Eli got injured.

Remind you of anyone?

Our Most wonderful win of the the last couple of years was destroyed by stupid coaching- needing the football Gods to intervene to make us 2-0 after we kicked their Patriot tails hard and straight up. Last Time is was the Raiders field goal misses- Different OC same Gut Shot feeling taking away TRUST and FAITH in the Coaching staff and team overal.

Yea we won IN SPITE of Mike Miller! I don't want to nag - but it is the damned truth-

I thought Miller just chose pass plays and Grimm/Whiz choose running plays. Unless they changed it recently. I've said it 100 times before that we need a real OC, but I don't believe that particular play falls on Miller

Negative. Miller is the OC and runs the offense and calls all plays.

You are so right JG. Many of us golden oldies would have given up teeth and arms to start a season 2-0, or to have been 9 of the last 11, even if it was over two seasons. For me, this is fun baby. I don't ever recall such a stretch from the old days of this franchise.

I think that it is wonderful that our players BELIEVE, and KNOW that they are better conditioned than the opponent, and that they have been given a scheme that will allow them to overcome whatever is needed to get a WIN. They like each other, and they have each other's back.

I am telling you that the days of 'wondering how this team will find a way to lose' are gone. This team is the one that 'finds a way to win', and once the fans learn this, the season is so much more fun. It is really nice to BELIEVE that your team will win more OFTEN than they lose, and to have that thought be translated into reality is just precious.

So let up a little bit. This has not happened previously in my lifetime aside from the Warner years. To be able to go 9 of 11 without an established QB is almost unimaginable, but Birdgang believes it, lives it, and trusts their coaches with it. We should too.

:yeahthat:

I got bit by rattlesnake while finishing up running a five mile workout last week, and my body was still far more able to recover just fine in comparison to these last second wins but last second wins are wins. Rattlesnakes...no big thing, I'm a Cardinal fan baby :D

That's an awesome analogy/story. Glad you're okay, but I had little doubt because you are a Cardinal fan.

Not the truth

Bless you for taking time to deal with the less fortunate.

thanks for clarifying. Wasn't that how it used to be? I'm glad I only have one person to blame for the play-calling now lol

It was two years ago 2010 when they didn't have an OC and Grimm was dubbed "run game coordinator" but even then he wasn't calling plays. Whiz was.

Thursday, November 27, 2008. 48-20 in Philly. That's why we were 13.5 point underdogs in the NFC Championship game. They haven't beaten us at home since 2001, but I think we've only played them three times in Arizona since then.

It's tough to win 9 or 10 16-13 games. You can't depend on kickers shanking game-winners and rookie quarterbacks throwing butter-fingered receivers on the goal line every week.

Not every week, just 9 out of the last 11. In 2006 Baltimore won 13 games and held their opponents to 17 points or less 12 times. The Steelers who beat us in the Super Bowl finished 20th in scoring in '08 yet won 12 games scoring 20 points or less in half their games and holding opponents to under 17 points 11 times. So even though the NFL is trying to turn itself into the Big 12 it can be done.

Do the probabilities have to change? I don't know. We beat Dallas 3 times in a row because of a blocked punt, a missed extra point (Buehler? Buehler?), and a missed FG.

I mean acting like your father's Cardinal fans. We seem to be part of what the Cardinals have been trying to leave behind, the 'we do not deserve to think the best because we should not expect to win mentality'. OMG, Horton is going to leave us. OMG, these young players have been absent in the play. OMG, Coach Whis needs to be fire for a play which never did materialize in a loss AND it is only two games into the season and we are 2-0. Guys, please...this forum is turning into a site which reflects nagging girlfriends where nothing is ever good enough.

If you have been a Cards fan long enough you sort of expect to lose where you voice it or not. When we look at Seattle and Philly we think of the old Philly and Seattle who were very very good in their day. We may not realize that we in fact have the defense that Philly once had or the Cowboys once had. If we in fact are as good as our record, it is going to take some time for the fans to realize it. We are to accustomed to losing and tend to expect to lose. Certainly all the gamblers expect us to lose as we are seldom picked to win. Maybe this team has crossed over into another dimension? Maybe it has not? If we beat the Eagles this week they will have made a believer out of me. I still expect us to lose but I know these are not the Eagles of the old days and know we have a very definite chance to win. It really is hard to conclude that the Cards are a power in the West after 50+ years of mostly futility.

Great description JG. I'm with you. Let's enjoy this team rather than constantly looking for something bad to happen. The karma has changed. Let's keep it that way.
