The game is very, VERY difficult single player. You have to control both chefs in single player. It is designed to be played multiplayer. FYI.

Well, if it has the Bee stamp of approval, I'll see if the Mrs is into it. Good excuse to buy another controller while I'm on the subject. ;)

I still recommend the one S controller if you guys dont have one. It is far sturdier and the matte on the back is wonderful

game informers best of 2016 includes:

Best Cooperative Multiplayer: Overcooked
Forget your shooters – this year's best co-op experience took place in a kitchen, not on a battlefield. Overcooked's riotous culinary challenges serve up the best kind of couch co-op, requiring you to frantically coordinate with (i.e., boss around) your fellow chefs in order to get dinner on the table. With countless variations and a charming art style, Ghost Town Games proves that a simple concept can go a long way.

If you guys have any local co-op multiplayer possibilities, pickup Overcooked Holiday Bundle. This game is so much fun. I even got Linda to play it and she doesn't game much at all. It is by far one of my favorite games of 2016.

It really is a ton of fun. Your kids will have fun playing with you. Each level presents its own set of challenges, and it's fun collaborating with your teammate on what is the best way to be the most efficient, etc. If you get it, then we can challenge each other for high scores! :)

Tried it with both kids last night, planned to play about 30 minutes before bedtime. Went to bed 90 minutes later than usual due to having more fun than expected. Solid game. Frustrating when my 8 year old isn't being as efficient as me and my 15 year old though. If I was a chef he would be fired!

Moving stages are super annoying, especially when the ground raises and you are stuck. seems like a 4th player would make a HUGE difference as once dishes start coming in, there is more work than 3 people can handle.

I may be reconsidering now because I lived all this for real in a previous "career". :biglaugh:

I would only do it if someone wants to play coop with you. As a single player game I would hate it.

You don't. Linda and I were able to 3 star every one of the levels except one with 2 people. The only reason we didn't 3 star the last one is because we had a buddy over to play 3 with us.

I can tell you that it sometimes feels like 3 people sometimes gets in each other's way more. 2 people is fine. I haven't played 4's except for only one or two levels.

funny, we play a 2 star older level to warm up and now that we are on stage 3, going back and playing a 2 star level from stage one we dominated it suddenly.

its amazing how a level as simple as fish and chips we still struggled to get 3 stars but my 8 year old seems to leave frys all over the place, fall off the map alot, accidentally dump cooked food in the trash and etc.

We got to like the 4th world in overcooked and simply cannot earn any more stars. We keep trying but ultimately I think my son is just not good at it and its holding us back.

Which one is that?
DCR & I finished the main game w/3 stars on each, despite my extremely limited abilities, lol. We relied heavily on his superior gaming skills. There were a few that took us a zillion tries, it seemed, though.

we are in world 4 right now, one of the levels has the lights off.

It gets frustrating and the game turns you into gordon ramsey real quick. It takes a lot of patience to not yell at him when he is just throwing vegetables all over the floor or filling the shelves with dough when I only need two things of dough. You guys may have a lot more patience than we do. Some of those levels we have played like 10 times and are still getting one stars.

Then I tried moving to the lost morsel or the other campaign and half the food we dont even know how to cook yet! Then one level had pots to cook in AND pans? and you have to rotate them? ARGHGHGHWEIGKNWIPRGNDRIPGBNDAGB

thats how that game makes me feel.

My wife & I just finished the main story of Overcooked with 3 stars on each level. We bought it yesterday & played it maybe 8-10 hours. She's not a gamer, but we tried it at her brother's house & she liked it. Now it's on to the DLC...bought the Gourmet version for $20... not really sure if 10 hours of gaming was worth $20, but it got my wife gaming so that's a plus & we worked pretty well together.
