Cousins is available because one franchise already decided he wasn’t their future franchise guy and just because he is the best of an average group of free agent QBs does it mean you pay him like he is the best QB period.

It's been widely reported that Cousins doesn't want to play for the Redskins. Their GM has stated as much. Washington tried several times to sign him to a long term contract but he refused.

It's a fair question but I think it requires examining just how good or bad the team around him was. To take an extreme example, look at Steve Young with the Buccaneers. He was a great, HOF QB ultimately but "he" was only 3-16 as a starter. Shouldn't a HOF QB elevate his team to more wins than that?

Steve Young was traded to be a back up and wasn't given the highest salary in the league when he left the Bucs. Cousins is being asked to be a franchise QB and he will likely get paid the highest salary in NFL history. If Cousins was getting equivalent to what we gave Palmer last season I don't think there would be as much questioning of it.

Still hoping it's Denver or the Jets. It would be nice for one of the teams ahead of the Cardinals to be out of the qb market

Tom Pelissero was on NFL Radio saying it was going to be AZ, NYJ, or MIN.

I guess the whole point here is that no one knows yet.

Could be. There is some weight to talk from Broncos brass on internet that they think Cousins is going to Minny.

Unfortunately there are too many QB desperate franchises who've gone years with a band aid fix back there. It's what the market bares.

You're comparing apples to Army tanks here. The Bucs in those days were horrible and horribly coached. Young had the talent as he showed in the USFL and Young wasn't a HOF caliber QB at that point in his career. He needed a Bill Walsh to hone his skills. In fact, he being traded to the 49ers was one of the biggest ****** Culverhouse ever pulled and considering how he turned out in SF should show you how much of a crapshow Tampa was in those days. Hell, even Brady wasn't exactly drafted to be a starter. Had Bledsoe never gotten injured Lord knows how he would have turned out.

Minnesota is going to live to regret this. I mean, if there ever was an undeserving a player for $30 million a year it's Cousins. If they do this, it's going to benefit a lot of teams because they're going to need to cut some impact players for cap space.

The Vikings have a lot of future cap space to play with coming up on expiring contracts. They'll be okay.

I agree with Vikings game plan. Having said that why doesn't Cousins want to go to Jets. Brady is 41. Rodgers is 32. Bad decision by Cousins

Awful team talent-wise with internal strife. Not much at WR. Shaky confidence in how long Bowles will be there. Offensive Coordinator that flamed out really badly in his first go of it. Brutal media. Tons of outdoor games (at least 8), mostly in the cold. New Jersey tax rate higher than all of the other options.

The only real reason to go there is money.

Better Odds than trying to take on healthy Rodgers in my book. :)

Win now. Vikings were 1 game from the Super Bowl with Case Keenum at QB and Cousins probably believes he can put them over the top and he might because, and I'm not the least impressed by Cousins, he's heads and shoulders better than Keenum. The Jets, however, are a minimum 2-3 years away from really competing(I honestly believe that if they're patient with Bowles, he'll make the Jets a perennial contender). Cousins probably doesn't want to wait that long.
