With the calendar turning to April, it's officially draft season, even if many have focused their attentions there for some time. In just a few short weeks, the 2025 NFL draft will commence in Green Bay, WI, and all 32 teams will get the opportunity to upgrade rosters, draft new talent, and fill in key roster needs.

The Dallas Cowboys, who have the No. 12 overall pick and a total of 10 selections in this year's draft, have a need to address key needs on both sides of the ball. According to ESPN's Matt Miller and Jordan Reid, the team's top three needs heading into the draft are running back, wide receiver, and cornerback.

Dallas was much more active during the March free agency period compared to last year, signing eight new players and trading for two more. The new faces included free agent running backs Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders. They also acquired former Buffalo Bills cornerback Kaiir Elam, one of the two traded-for players who will provide depth at a cornerback position hammered with injuries last season, with All-Pros Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland missing significant time. Wide receiver Parris Campbell, another free agent acquistion, adds veteran experience to a receiving corps lacking it beyond CeeDee Lamb.

However, none of these options are long-term solutions, as none are under contract beyond the 2025 season, leading to the nomination by the ESPN draftniks.

RB, WR, CB. The Cowboys added Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders in free agency, but running back remains a high priority. This is a deep draft class at the position, which means they might not have to lock into one at No. 12 overall.

Dallas is also looking for a No. 2 receiver opposite CeeDee Lamb and has issues at cornerback, even with the trade for 2022 first-round pick Kaiir Elam. One intriguing option to address the needs at wide receiver and cornerback could be arguably the draft's biggest name: Travis Hunter from Colorado. The unanimous All-American took the college football world by storm last year, dominating at both positions and winning the Heisman Trophy. Hunter recorded 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also contributing four interceptions and 11 pass breakups on defense. A move to acquire him would require the front office to trade into the top five picks of the draft. While this may be challenging, it’s not impossible.

I miss the days when the Cowboys were aggressive & fun. Spice it up. Trade up for Travis Hunter.

Aside from Hunter, players such as Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, Michigan cornerback Will Johnson, or Boise State standout running back Ashton Jeanty would give Dallas an immediate upgrade in their respective positions.
