The Cowboys continue to address roster needs, even as the NFL draft inches ever closer. On Wednesday, the team added a depth piece to the offensive line, one that comes with 18 starts for an NFC East rival. That won't preclude them from looking at college prospects, though; we'll tell you which standout lineman has lined up a pre-draft visit to The Star. Also in draft news, we'll look at a top-flight running back who may be coming in under the radar, we'll mock our way up the draft order and tell you who the hypothetical move is for, and we wonder if the Cowboys might still roll the dice on a locally-loved quarterback in the late rounds.
Meanwhile, DeMarvion Overshown had a big day. His long-awaited jersey change was made official... and the latest update on his knee rehab has him possibly hitting the field again much earlier than expected. Also, we'll tell you what's taking up more of Brian Schottenheimer's time than Xs and Os at the moment, we'll congratulate a longtime Cowboys staffer on a plum new position in the college game, we'll ask Joe Milton what he sees in the man he's backing up... and Tony Romo continues to take heat, this time placing pretty high on a list he'd probably rather not be on at all.

The former fourth-round draft pick (2020, Washington) made 18 starts in four years before signing with Tennessee for 2024's training camp. Charles abruptly retired from football prior to the start of last season but, now reinstated, will join the Cowboys after a workout last week.

Missouri star Armand Membou has been mocked to the Cowboys by several national outlets. Now the big lineman is reportedly set to meet with the team in person at The Star in Frisco. If chosen by Dallas, there could be a position shift coming for last year's first-rounder, Tyler Guyton.

The linebacker will return to the number he famously wore at Texas, earning the nickname "Agent 0" in the process. Overshown will be the first Cowboys player to ever wear the No. 0 jersey when he makes his return from last season's ACL injury.

Jordan Schultz reports that Overshown "has been progressing well" from his season-ending knee injury, suffered in December. In fact, "there's optimism he could return around the middle of the 2025 season."

Despite playing for a predictable Iowa offense where opponents knew exactly what was coming, Kaleb Johnson still racked up over 1,500 yards and 21 touchdowns last year. Likened to Cowboys single-season rushing leader DeMarco Murray, Johnson has been ranked by draft expert Dane Brugler as the best RB outside this draft's opening round.

The Cowboys' need for a true weapon at WR2 has them trading up in this mock draft, swinging a deal with the Panthers to move up to No. 8 so they can snatch Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan away from the Raiders. Taking the elite big-bodied receiver here still gives Dallas the choice of one of several talented running backs in Round 2.

The addition of Joe Milton to the Cowboys QB room may be just the start of a larger refresh at the position. ESPN has Dallas drafting Texas passer Quinn Ewers in the sixth round. He's got some good mechanics, but his decision-making still needs major development. He was popular while with the Longhorns, as his many NIL deals attest; he'll make quite a bit less as an NFL rookie.

The scout who spent 18 years with the Cowboys will replace longtime Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy. Players Fabianich drafted during his time in Dallas made 67 combined Pro Bowls. He'll now scout across the nation for the best college players to come to Mobile, Ala. and show off their skills in front of NFL scouts, general managers, and coaches in one of the most important events leading up to the NFL draft.

The new head coach said recently that half of his day during this time of year is spent reaching out to players, building a family atmosphere. “I don’t want to talk to these guys right now about football,” he said. “It’s overrated. It’s a people business. We want to spend time getting to know one another and building this culture, which is going to be about competing every day to make these guys the best versions of themselves."

Milton is excited for his new opportunity in Dallas, not only because he'll be playing for his family's favorite team, but because of who he'll be studying under. "He's a great person," Milton said of Dak Prescott. "This is my second time meeting him, so just being around him I feel the great energy that he brings and just willing and look forward to learn from him and really compete."

Love him or hate him, the former quarterback remains one of football’s most polarizing voices—and not always for the best reasons. Romo placed fourth on this list of the "worst" broadcasters in the NFL, compiled by tracking the average number of repeated words or misspeaks, incomplete sentences, significant pauses, filler words, and verbal mistakes. Troy Aikman came in ninth.
