Well, it had been several days since we had two NFL players going after one another on social media. But a nasty online spat between Deion Sanders and Asante Samuel over the nuts and bolts of a specific defensive back technique, of all things, was certainly unexpected. We'll tell you what started it, what escalated it, and how Coach Prime seemed to drag gold jackets into it.

Elsewhere, the Cowboys are still looking to fill roster holes. We'll check out a local running back hoping to stay close to home, we'll explore a powerful option at backup quarterback, and we'll dig into a four-round mock that has three prospects from the same school sharing a flight to Dallas. We'll also examine why Jerry Jones ranks in the bottom tier of NFL owners in one pretty important category... and we wonder how much he's helped bankroll the Razorbacks' trip to the Sweet 16 this March. We're keeping an eye on college pro days, we're watching what Philly is doing this offseason, and we're looking at the Cowboys' favorite kind of free agent.

Dallas deals their 12th pick to Denver in this mock, but the Cowboys still end up with Ohio State receiver Emeka Egbuka at 20. They go back to Columbus in the second round by selecting running back TreVeyon Henderson at 44 and then use their extra second (from the Broncos) to nab Texas defensive tackle Alfred Collins. Another Buckeye joins in the third round, this time center Seth McLaughlin.

The Red Raiders' all-time leading rusher had an informal meeting with the Cowboys ahead of the Big 12's Pro Day at The Star. “It was a great meeting, great knowledge,” Brooks said. “I would love to get drafted here. It’s a great city. It’d be a blessing.” After 4,557 career rushing yards with Texas Tech, Brooks attended both the East-West Shrine Bowl and the NFL scouting combine.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Cowboys "could be interested" in Joe Milton III, the Patriots backup who impressed last year in a fill-in role and wowed scouts at the 2024 combine with his arm strength. New England is reportedly exploring trade options for the former sixth-round draft pick.

With obvious needs at the position, it was a good year for the Cowboys to find some linebackers in free agency. Jack Sanborn and Kenneth Murray are stylistic opposites, but together, they're exactly what Dallas needed this offseason. Best of all, their combined presence means the Cowboys don't have to go into the draft reaching for a rookie.

Every NFL owner professes a desire to build a winning franchise, but some just can’t stay out of the way and their teams suffer as a result. Unsurprisingly, Jerry Jones falls into this latter category. The Cowboys are "stuck in struggle mode" mainly because Jones loves being the center of attention and maintaining control. That leads to him sticking with coaches too long just to see their contracts through and stubbornly dragging out player contract negotiations simply to adhere to his own timeline.

As the Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball team heads to the Sweet 16 following their massive upset of St. John's, remember that Jerry Jones could be one of the reasons for their success. The Arkansas alum played football there in the 1960s and recently donated over $10 million to his alma mater's athletic program.

In an NFL Network appearance, Coach Prime bashed a defensive back technique known as the T-step, saying if one of his Colorado players did it, he would "rip their facemask off." That prompted ex-NFLer Asante Samuel to jump on social media and clap back, calling Sanders "foolish" and deeming the T-step "the perfect technique." The Hall of Famer came back with a retort of his own, accusing his fellow Florida State alum of being salty over comments Sanders made almost 15 years ago about Samuel's slim chances of making it to Canton. "Tell them what this is really about sir," Sanders wrote. Samuel then posted a comparison of both men's career stats as the ongoing beef's third full day came to a bizarre close.

The Cowboys have loaded up on their favorite type of free agent: former early-round draft picks who haven't lived up to potential. Now a huge part of the team's 2025 strategy will hinge on the new coaching staff being able to turn underachievers like Kaiir Elam, Solomon Thomas, Javonte Williams, and others into second-chance stars.

Reports have had the Cowboys' new defensive coordinator sweeping the South, showing up at the pro days of Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Meanwhile, wide receivers coach Junior Adams, O-line coach Conor Riley, and D-line coach Aaron Whitecotton all went to Oregon's pro day workout. Purdue, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Memphis, Alabama, and Washington have all had Dallas reps in attendance, too. Several Texas schools will hold their events next week.

The defending Super Bowl champs have made some nice additions this offseason- including Azeez Ojulari and Adoree' Jackson- and retained several key playmakers, like Zack Baun, Lane Johnson, and Saquon Barkley. But they've seen some big names leave. With 12 draft picks to play with, though, they'll have the capital to re-stock the cabinets for another title run.

NFL reviewing kickoff rule again for 2025: Potential tweaks to dynamic play, why league is considering changes :: CBS Sports

The dynamic kickoff, instituted last year and largely designed by then-Cowboys special teams coordinator John Fassel, may get further tweaks for this season. Touchbacks may move up to the 35 to encourage fewer kicks into the end zone. That adjustment could more than double last season's rate of kick returns. Kickers may be moved back five yards, too. Any changes will have to be voted in by the competition committee later this month.
