Whether we should have done something different with Leonard Davis is of no interest to me and has never been. My only comment was aimed at how ludicrous it was for a Texas newspaper to tout any opinion of Nate Newton's as being worthy of respect.

The felons may have more total top caliber football players on their roster than any team in the NFL in the last 20 years or so. Their collective leadership and character is suspect. From owner to head coach to quarterback to some of their of their top stars.

If talent matters most, they ought to be able to go 19-0, barring catastrophic injuries.
well said. for those that don't know nate newton, like irvin, has his own radio show. or he is like a sidekick or something. as far as jones...yeah he's not a normal owner. with jerry winning comes first at all costs. he's not afraid to take the heat or make a fool of himself.....or even admit that he's an idiot for being wrong. and he's been all of the above. he deserves his critics and so do the cowboys that have been convicted of wrong doings. but jerry has my total respect for putting the cowboys back on the map. and not backing down from his actions/or his critics. if he was the owner others wanted him to be the cowboys would not be where they are today.
quarterbacks? maybe that's where I don't agree with you unless you're talking about quincy carter J/K. I think the great cowboys QB's of the past were first class on and off the field(especially aikman/staubach) and they set the bar high. yeah romo isn't great, but he certainly is a class act IMO. he may look like a dork often times and he does some stupid things every now and then. but I like his character. the cowboys got lucky getting him for nothing.

I would've held onto Davis. At LEAST until we saw if we could've gotten a draft pick out of the Cowboys, Giants or Skins. I also would've drafted Adrian Peterson having kept Davis.

Yeah, except he wasn't under contract. You would have had to franchise him and then pray someone would offer us good value before he broke our cap. Why bother when everybody knew he wanted to be near his sick Dad in Texas? Bad risk /return on that one.

We could play the "what if" game forever, but he really had no reason to sign the one year tender right away.

Whatever. He's gone, and I was over it the day after we said we wouldn't tag him.

I agree. Any time you let a player walk and he makes the Pro Bowl the following year, something's wrong in the thought process with the Card's organization.

I would normally agree with that. But he went to the Cowboys, and Cowboy fans do a great job of stuffing All-pro ballot boxes with all Cowboys.

Davis was not worth the money he was signed for, IMO, and that opinion will never change.

I'll never ever forget that Rams game at SunDevil when we were getting ready to score with less than 10 seconds left inside the ten and LD jumped offsides and they ran 10 seconds off the clock ending the game without us even taking a snap.

That was the beginning of the end for LD here in Phoenix. At that point it was better for him to move on and the Cardinals to move on. He is a good player but a lot of fans are never going to forgive Mr. Davis for that. It was all down hill after that one.

Oh, there is plenty more about Davis that was unforgiveable.

Sorry he is an over-rated pro bowl player in my mind. Put him in the Roy Williams, Jeremy Shockey category and be done with it.

For whatever reason davis didn't give the cards what they expected

For most of the past 30 years no one has given the Cards what they expected. Every year the team had a different scapegoat. It was just Davis' turn to be the scapegoat.

Even Adrian Wilson had a turn in the barrel. Fortunately they hung on to him.

Sometimes it’s just the right time when a player walks.

Leonard did his time here, and personally, I think we mismanaged his natural talents for a majority of it. But it was time for both parties to try a different path and find some fresh air.

Never-the-less, you can’t fault the Cowboys for feeling good about him anchoring the interior of that line… he looked awesome every time I watched him last year, and I’d be lying if I didn’t feel a twinge of jealousy for not seeing him being so devastating for us.

I may dislike the Cowboys intensely, but they definitely score-boarded us on this one… even with the ridiculous amount of cash they threw at him. Live and learn, and then move on.

That being said, probably the worst thing to come out of that whole scenario was not so much losing Leonard, but the fact we came out of it with absolutamente nada… and for me, I think that’s what is especially disappointing.

Cardinals to Cowboys: At least we have won a playoff game in the last ten years

They have to live with the notion that the last playoff game the Cards won were against the vaunted Cowboys. They will have the honor again soon.

Cardinal fans to Felon fans - "You still suck."

:yeahthat:
Anyone think that Cowboys fans would be nervous if the Cardinals came to Texas Stadium for the first game of the playoffs. How awesome would it be to beat the Cowboys in their own house to prevent them from winning a playoff game for another year....Ok I better put this Kool-Aid down or I won't be able to drive to lunch.

I see Newton did his research. #2 pick they put him at LT. No we didnt' we put him at RG first, then he played some RT, then he moved to LG but never actually played there before going to to LT.

And everything we were told was that Big WANTED to play LT, because he wanted the LT money. I do think Green messed up with him but I don't think it's fair to say the Cards were just playing him out of position, he just wanted to play in Dallas and that wasn't exactly a secret.

Wish him luck and all but part of his problem here was he seemed to want to play the position that would give him the biggest contract, not help the team the most. That is if all those reports were true quoting him saying he wanted to play LT.

I think we did mess up with Big and let a pro bowler top pick get away for nothing. We had many post on this board that he was playing out of position. Our staff did not seem to get it. It is not often that we get an all pro on our line but when we did we managed to screw it up. I would like to think there is an excuse or someone to blame besides Big but really there is no excuse. Certainly one of the reasons we could not run the ball effectively. I hoped we learned a lesson as we sure have let a lot of very good players get away in recent years. We have a new coaching staff but we still have the same old GM. It is him that needs to learn some lessons IMHO.

there are more like me believe it or not....but there are so many cowboys fans. obviously many of them are going to be arrogant. that's never been my style...at least usually. there is a time and place though. that and I'm used to people who hate the cowboys so it doesn't bother me a bit. I enjoy this fan forum it's really great. I also enjoy the passion that you guys have for the cards. I know if I wern't from DFW I'd hate the pokes too. but i'm a homer for all my teams.

as far as playing the cowboys in the playoffs? that would be sweet. an opportunity for both teams. I can only imagine the story lines if the cards were to come to irving, in it's final season, and play the cowboys. especially if it were the cowboys first playoff game. that other game would be re-visited all week long. we'll see. I would certainly welcome it. and I'd be back to chat win or lose. hopefully a win for the pokes though. sorry.

Yeah that, especially if it were the Cards second playoff game. The first a 38-10 win over the Redskins at the Frat House.

I like your optimism. I hope the cowboys can get another wade phillups playoff victory too lol. I just hope the cowboys win at least one playoff game for cryin out loud. all of my dallas teams seem to enjoy one and done.....in choking fashion. thankfully the stars broke their one and done streak finally. but at least they are making the playoffs. mavs/rangers/cowboys have certainly had some dreadful seasons.

Only time I've been hit is by Cowboy's fan.

Chieck behind me in line for hotdogs, of course as was to be expected from a felons fan, I was looking at the hotdogs when she hit me from behind

At a game that is, then she ran off

you know these roadie cowboys fans seem to be notoriously worse. obviously a mixture of texans and hoppers. My in laws are giants fans and go to texas stadium every year and never have any problems. In fact many around the nfl have labled texas stadium soft. and I'd have to agree with that compared to some places I've been. and I plan to attend a washington/philly/or NYG road game in the upcoming years as I'm moving to ohio. so we'll see if i'm still alive after that. one place I'll never go is oakland.

but It's totally different when you go to a cowboys game in san diego or arizona and you have all of these idiots drinking and talking senseless nonsense. as long as my son isn't with me I can sit back and enjoy it. but it can get annoying.

Hilarious. A newspaper quoting Nate Newton as an intelligent voice of reason.

Beat me to the punch. I was going to post the same thing, lol.

I agree. Any time you let a player walk and he makes the Pro Bowl the following year, something's wrong in the thought process with the Card's organization.

I think not. Davis was obviously done with Arizona. When people aren't happy in their job, they usually don't do as good of a job. I think Davis is a case in point. He must be happier with the Cowboys. Good for him. I'm not shedding any tears over his departure.

Oh, and who really cares what a Dallas paper has to say? Of course they are going to tout their angle. Bias is rampant in our media.

I remember the interview with Big after he was picked in the draft, the question was, "you were always big, now how are you going to spend all that money?" He laughed.
