How so? He can hold his WR to "only" 10 catches and 120 yards? Roddy White wasn't cut by his team the week before the game.

Toler made 13 tackles(!) in the game last week, but he wast targeted at least 10 times. He didn't make anyone in the NFL think twice about throwing in his direction.

You kill me with your crap you spew sometimes. You just make it sound as though all 10 completions were against Toler and he played horribly.

Just re-watched the whole game. Out of Clayton's 10 receptions 4 of them were on Toler. 2 of which were uncover able. They were the quick outs that the QB throws immediately after the snap when the WR just turns at the LOS and the ball is thrown right to him. Toler due to play and scheme was 10 yards off the LOS. NO possible way to even defend it.

The only BIG play of the 4 was the 39 yard reception down the right sideline that Toler had perfect position on and even turned and looked to make a play on the ball. However the throw was perfect place where only the WR can get to it. A perfect throw will beat perfect coverage anytime.

The other was just a quick west coast style slant that went for about 5 yards.

Out of the other 6 completions to Clayton 4 were on DRC and 1 each against Adams and Washington.

Just an FYI.

13 tackles. 0 passes defensed. Obviously Greg Toler had a big target on his back. What exactly did he do to remove that target after his first game as a starter? Make a bunch of tackles after a guy caught the ball?

Toler couldn't "hold his own" on a guy who was cut ten days before, unless you mean that "he can tackle him eight yards downfield." So how is he going to hold his own against a guy who had more receiving yards than Larry Fitzgerald last year?

I swear to God I want Greg Toler to succeed, but let's not pretend he's shown that he's an upgrade over Bryant McFadden yet. He hasn't done anything but show that he can tackle people. That's the third thing I want in my cornerback.

He had just as many balls thrown on him as DRC did with Clayton. Does that mean DRC can't hold his own either?

If you cant see that he is an upgrade over Mcfadden already you need new eyes IMO.

I guess there is a certain symmetry to McFadden having 15 tackles for the Steelers Sunday.

Well, clearly with logic like this there is no data that can convince you.

Do you think that Toler just tackled 13 guys whom he wasn't supposed to be covering? Would you rather have a cornerback who had 3 tackles but 9 passes defensed, or 12 tackles and 1 pass defensed? Who is the better cornerback?

Clayton wasn't cut - the Rams traded a 6th round pick for Clayton and a 7th.

Just keepin' it real....

damn! fools best not be slipping around Dave. He'll take you out (he already did it to me a couple times this season... why I outta)!

On a serious note though... watching that game with ya on Sunday, with our bizarro mirror image of Tony and Paul opposite us was freaking hilarious.

lol

What kind of "accountability" would you like him to have? He's not a journalist, he's an entertainer.

Accountability woudl be his listeners to turning him off. It is what I did after his antics during the Suns/Lakers series. I used to listen every day and now I turn the station.

His schtick (and he openly admits it) is to say the most asinine things to either make you love him or hate him. He changes his opinion constantly, never admits he is wrong, and badgers things to death. He is the Howard Stern of sports talk.

If you buy into his act, you are a sap.

If "buy into his act" means i enjoy his show when I listen to the radio, then I guess I'm a sap. Though for the life of me I don't know how I turned into the bad guy here.

DRC plays a side not a particular WR. We just don't do that and never have. We won't start now either. Besides toler can hold is own on white IMO. Tony Gonzales is who scares me.

This might be the dumbest thing that I ever heard. How can you not put your best cover player on the opposing teams best wide receiver. I know that you are just stating a recent fact, but Bill Davis might as well leave only 7 in the box when we play Minnesota if he is not going to lock up DRC on White.

You aren't the bad guy. Just part of the "Herd"

It cracks me up he flat calls it that. If you get enjoyment out of it then that is great. Not my cup of tea.

Sap was a poor choice of words and doesn't really express my thoughts. For that I apologize. If you like his show for what it is, then great.

Just don't buy into his opinions because he doesn't even believe them. I personally would rank the value of his opinions right around thesmels.

It's a technique thing. DRC still is only beginning his third year in the NFL. He's not ready to run all over the field, covering the slot if they line up Randy Moss there, or whatever.

Also, because we run so much zone coverage (probably more than we do man), moving DRC around would tip zone/man coverage.

The solution is to get better coverage from the weakside cornerback and free safety, but apparently Greg Toler is already lockdown and just tackles his man after he's achieved first down over and over and that's nothing to worry about (right, Shane?).

Do most teams flop their CBs? We always played where our RCB and LCB stayed in the same place no matter where the WRs lined up. Of course back in the day HS teams only threw the ball once or twice a year.

For sure... we all expected the worst at every turn, and we all pretty much got it until the very end. Classic.

Hopefully things will get better from here. After 2+ years of competence, i can hardly bear to go back to the old ways. Seeya Sunday?

I think next week is going to be tough. A win there would be a gift.
We flew east to the central timezone, flew back west to the mountain time zone and now we have to fly across two time zone hours to the eastern time zone.

We have never been a good team when flying to the east out of our time zone.

We broke out of the eastern time zone slump last year. We won all three of our regular season road games in the east.

I guess he lost his survivor yesterday with 9ers

LOL!

Eh, I don't care what Cowherd says. Like everyone else, he is entitled to his opinion. And, like all sports fans, I have the choice to not listen to him ... which is what I do. IMO, he's a blowhard who thinks he knows everything. Life is too short for me to listen to him anymore.
