I'm confused. The Rockets were prepared to sign Paul outright, but now they can't afford to trade for him?

They had to make trades to sign him and now that he signed with the Clippers his salary is probably higher

Rumors are that the Rockets are pursuing another star to pair with Harden and CP3, likely Melo or George.

So you're saying Harden will go back to being the sixth man, like he was in OKC?

Yeah. That's what I'm saying.

Jesus. Really?

Harden spent a ton of time on the court with Westbrook AND KD who both handled the rock a lot.

I just think the comparison doesn't work because Harden was a totally different player in OKC.

You're right, okc harden and Houston harden very different.

How did dantoni's system work with the lakers, when kobe didn't want to run the spread pick and roll?
Either cp or harden better get comfortable as spot up shooter or dantoni has to change his offense.

Because he had to be a different player in Houston when he came there since they didn't have anyone else. I think he's capable of reverting back some to his OKC ways and splitting usage with Cp3 like he did with Durant/Westbrook.

I am with the "Paul and Harden duo is NOT going to work" crowd. I think a coach who is not a one-trick pony could make it work, but I don't think D'Antoni will be able to do it.

Well I was wrong, it actually happened. Harden will win the scoring title next year and Houston will be much more dangerous in the playoffs.

I am wondering why Griffin would want to remain in Clipper land after this.

That was my initial thought. But apparently he and CP3 were not the best of friends. He is supposedly really close with DeAndre Jordan. They can also pay him the most and give him a chance to lead a team.

I think lots of the Clipper players don't like Doc Rivers and how he favors his son Austin who is on the team.

This is from Ryan Phillips, sports writer:
Paul’s relationship with Doc Rivers started to deteriorate rapidly after the Clippers acquired Austin Rivers. Several members of the team felt Austin acted entitled because his dad was both the coach and the President of Basketball Operations. In the view of the tenured players, Austin Rivers never tried to fit in, and when players tried to address the situation with him, he still did not respond the way the core of the team wanted him to. It led to resentment within the locker room, which often played out during games. One of Paul’s biggest contentions with Doc was that Paul, and other players, felt Doc treated Austin more favorably than other players. He would yell at guys for certain things during games and practices, but not get on Austin in the same manner for similar transgressions.

LAC can go for Lowry as a possible replacement. Did LAC have enough roster spots to absorb 7 players?
