Screenwriter: Paul Haggis, Bobby Moresco
Genre: Crime, Drama, Mystery

Plot Summary: A Brentwood housewife and her DA husband. A Persian store owner. Two police detectives who are also lovers. A black television director and his wife. A Mexican locksmith. Two car-jackers. A rookie cop. A middle-aged Korean couple... They all live in Los Angeles. And in the next 36 hours, they will all collide... A provocative, unflinching look at the complexities of racial conflict in America, "Crash" is that rare cinematic event – a film that challenges audiences to question their own prejudices. Diving headlong into the diverse melting pot of post-9/11 Los Angeles, this compelling urban drama tracks the volatile intersections of a multi-ethnic cast, examining fear and bigotry from multiple perspectives as characters careen in and out of one another’s lives. No one is safe in the battle zones of intolerance. And no one is immune to the simmering rage that sparks violence – and changes lives... Funny, powerful, and always unpredictable, "Crash" boldly explores the gray area between black and white, victim and aggressor...and finds no easy solutions.

We saw this movie over the weekend...what an amazing movie, great performances by all...

It makes you think...the basic plot is that everyone is predjudiced in some way, yet we all need each other...

Highly thought-provoking, sad, yet helps you to think about how you treat people and maybe inspires you to be a better person..

Well, I think it should be up for something...but it came out too early in the year for it to be remembered come December, lol...

It was produced I think by an independant film company, so it should earn awards there...

Finally saw this for the first time. Wow, what a great movie. One thing after another. I'll be pondering this one for a while.

I thought Crash was a phenomenally well acted and written movie. It was so masterfully crafted the way everyone of the characters' lives were unknowingly intertwined with each other. The conflicts and dilemmas that arose throughout were very realistic and the emotional component was very real. I give it 3 thumbs up, but since I don't have 3 thumbs, I'll substitute another appendage for the 3rd.... :)

PS - I just rewatched Saw I today and it basically did the same thing. The last couple minutes of Saw I (the part in the bathroom where EVERYTHING comes together for the voyeur/photographer) was intense. That scene just sewed everything up and left me astonished....

PPS - 24 does the same thing as well....

I think Micheal Pena stole the movie, and he was in what, 4 total scenes? His acting was fantastic, and real. I especially loved when he was talking with his daughter and giving her the invisible cloak.

Everyone's acting was superb in this; it was very, very well acted.

That part was so sad. As a father to a daughter, it caused my eyes to well up a bit. That **** was touching....

I found it obvious, over the top and self-indulgent. Some good performances, but waisted on tripe.

More than one critic/agency has put this movie on its worst 10 of the year list.... While perhaps not that bad, it still isn't worth much, IMHO.

Finally got a chance to watch this movie.

I liked how there were so many different story lines. It kept me entertained and wanting more.

I actually thought Ludacris did pretty good in his role.

I think the most intense scene for me was when Matt Dillon's character was trying to rescue Thandie Newton's character. And her screaming to get away from her, and Matt telling her it was going to be okay and everything.

I felt bad for Sandra Bullock's character at the end.

And like someone else had mentioned, I loved the invisible cloak story.

I might have to watch this movie again to pick up on anything I might have missed, but overall I enjoyed this movie very much. Definitely a movie that makes you reflect.

Well, do they get a bronze statue of a middle finger, or something?

Just one fantastic movie. I have watched and rewatched this movie.

My take is that no matter what people say, they are racially prejudiced to some level and not exempt from the label. Just examining the sources of these characters " racism " was what I felt the director/ writers were trying to do.

Definitely deserved the " best picture Oscar ".

The father / daughter scene was way too mushy for me and seemed disjointed from the rest of the movie.

Gotta love the song " Maybe Tomorrow " by the Stereophonics that plays during the credits roll.

The 2 car hijacker characters were the focal point of this story. Everyone , in some way played off of them. Just one fantastic performance after another by the whole cast.

I have turned a bunch of people on to this flick. It is compulsory viewing beyond a doubt. Best movie I have seen in years. Might have to bump it into my personal " Top 10 " all time list.

P.S. Kind of nice the way so many " stereotyped " actors went against their stereotype for this flick.

Sandra Bullock played a bitch. Brendon Fraser played an adult. Tony Danza played a jerk. Matt Dillon was the anti hero/hero.

I bought the DVD.

And surprisingly in a twist Larenz Tate and Ludacris were criminals.

Didn't like the movie at all.

The only story I found interesting was the the guy who worked for the door lock/security company and his ensuing beef with the shop owner.

That story had my attention until it played out and we find out the daughter was okay.

The rest of it was garbage, IMO.

Well, I watched this about a month ago and it was better than expected.

I did not see most of the other BP nominees, but I am glad that this movie won.

Congrats to Crash...it deserved the win. I loved the look on everyone's faces when it won, totally unexpected.

And it just reminded me how stellar that cast was, with all of them up and hugging each other. Ryan Phillipe looked like a kid in school. Good for that family...his pic wins Best Picture, and his wife wins Best Actress.

Wow, I didn't even notice. Does that say something about me?

Finally saw this movie Saturday night. Thought it was really good! Thought-provoking for sure. Great acting.
