Except for the two home runs, :-[ Hellickson pitched a pretty good game. In line to win it if the lead holds up

Props to Reed for his 9 pitch 8th inning. I still cringe every time he takes the mound though. And Hellickson with another solid start. Great series win, Dbacks!

Nice series win against a very talented and tough Cubs team! Goldy is God!!
A game below .500 on Memorial Day weekend... Quite the surprise start! Particularly when you consider that out pitching has been largely inconsistent (except for Anderson). Owings Hill and Ahmed have been mainly bad at the plate, Peralta hasn't found his groove yet and we get virtually nothing out of the catcher position at the plate...
Trumbo has been average at best. Our offense still is all about Gokdy, but Tomas, Inciarte and Pollack have done their part. Trumbo and Peralta have chipped in - but not enough... And Ahmed now riding a 9 game hit streak helps!

We're a game under .500, we have Hernandez, Corbin, and Arroyo coming back in the next 1-3 months, our young guns are playing lights out, Ahmed is just insane at SS lately. This is going to be fun year, and I think if our pitching catches up. we're in the hunt. We have the same record as Pittsburgh, and I don't think anyone doubts they'll end up putting it all together.

And Hudson will continue to get better. They said they are keeping him in the pen all season, I know he had that one disastrous outing, trust me, I was there, but I think he will get his rhythm back and turn into a dominant force out of the bullpen by the second half of the season.

We need pitching bad, Hernandez, Corbin and Arroyo cant come back soon enough, but if this team can cling to the hope that reinforcements are on the way and hold the fort like it's Guadal Canal (do I get bonus points for the WW2 reference on Memorial day eve?) we might just have a chance to matter after the all star break, which would rock! The Navy is steaming towards you Dbacks, just survive!
