I Think Warner is great here but the opportunity to get Culpepper now since he wants out of MN has got me very very intrigued. Who would you rather take snaps here next year. I know we need an Oline, running game, etc but thats not my point. Who would you rather see under center?

1) Culpepper isn't going anywhere

2) Even if he was traded here, he couldn't play next year so what do we do then?

I'd take Culpepper over Warner every day of the week. The problem is I don't see Daunte being traded and even if he was I really doubt they trade him to the Cardinals unless we give up a king's ransom.

I guess it depends if it's Warner and Lienart/Cutler, or just Warner. If a young guy is sitting on the bench behind Warner, then that's who I'd want. But, if it's just Warner without any real plan for the future, I'd go with Culpepper.

I voted for Warner with the assumption that we'd really, really try to get someone like that to learn from him.

Injured Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper reportedly raised the possibility of playing elsewhere in 2006 during an off-camera interview Sunday morning with ESPN.

"I want to play where I'm wanted," Culpepper told reporter Andrea Kremer, who relayed the statement during ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown."

Owner Zygi Wilf said as recently as Tuesday that Culpepper will be on the Vikings' 2006 roster, even if his surgically repaired right knee is not fully healed in time for training camp. Two days later, Culpepper was charged with three misdemeanors in connection with an alleged Oct. 6 sex party aboard two boats on Lake Minnetonka.

Culpepper, who has refused to speak with the Star Tribune, reiterated his innocence Sunday to ESPN and said that he was charged even though only one employee of Al & Alma's Supper Club identified him. Team officials are not happy that Culpepper plans to fight the charges in open court, but there are no indications the situation would change Wilf's mind.

Nevertheless, Kremer reported that Culpepper said: "Whatever team gets me next year, the team where I'm wanted, they'll get a bigger, better, faster Daunte Culpepper."

Culpepper also told Kremer he has lost 25 pounds from his 265-pound frame in order to reduce stress on his right knee

We've been making that assumption about this team for about ten years now and yet they still always find a way to prefer whatever mediocre QB the rest of the league passes on.

MY Qb options:

If Houston takes a QB with the #1 pick, pick up David Carr in free agency, sign Warner for competition whoever does better wins the starting job.

If Houston retains Carr, sign Warner to groom: best QB available where we pick (I'm hoping for Leinart, Young or perhaps Quinn if he does choose to come out which doesnt look overly likely.

We wouldn't be Cardinals fans if we didn't have hope, right? ;)

I figure that it seems to be a lock that Warner is back next year and McCown is on the street. That would kind of force the Cards hand in getting a QB this offseason....hopefully they'll do it right this time.

Just my guess, he doesn't go anywhere next year (the year after is a different story). Of course all of this doesn't change the fact that he tore all 3 ligaments in his knee and is unlikely to play next season

So like I said what do we do next season? Culpepper can't play and isn't even available for backup duty

If I was a Texans fan I would be sick if this happened. QB might be their most secure position on the team, why mess with it? It would literally be one of the worst moves in sports history for the Texans to take Leinart (and not trade him).

I depends on a lot of things.

1. How much do we have to trade for Daunte.

2. How is his rehab going.

3. Who is entering the draft (Young, Quinn) are they sure bets that they will be their if we do pick at a certian spot.

4. How does FA go, Which means are we able to fill in a few other needs that makes picking a 1st round QB even more of a viable option.

5. Do we even like a 1st round QB after putting them through the wringer in workouts, film reviews, and interview.

Until I get any of those answers I will remian on the fence on the debate. But, even with all that, Warner will still have to be our starter next year no matter what.

The guy is a peanut brained thug. I would throw up if we traded for that goon. I have zero respect for someone who signed a contract that large and still acts like a gangster. Why not try to grow up and respect your fan base instead of insulting them. besides, didn't he prove this year that without Moss going up and grabbing his errant throws that he basically sucks? I always thought it was funny, when you looked at Minny's record they would do well when Culpepper was out but they would suck if Moss was out. This year proved it to me, they got rid of the wrong player.

I say Warner. He is getting a good rhythm with our WR's. I say bring him back and build on it!!! I am excited about what another year with him here could do... Bring in another QB and we are back to square one again... Draft another QB for the future. But keep Warner!!!

What?? Where did this come from? I have never heard, read or seen anything that would suggest Culpepper is a gangster ever? :doi:

Like joe said, it depends on how the rehab is going, and I know that they are alot better at fixing knees than they used to be. That said, if I have to pick now, Warner by a mile because Culpepper will probably never be the QB he was as far as mobility.

I've never heard anything bad about Duante. With one exception and even that isn't the end of the wortld. That being said, I hope we stay with Warner and bring in teh future face of the team via draft or a trade to get a Rivers type of promising player. I hope the kid from Texas comes out. If he does it would be great to see Warner work with him for two years and then get ready to fly for the next ten.

Will Daunte even pass a physical? If he is healthy he would be worth at least a 1st and 2nd round pick from a bunch of teams. He is not going anywhere. You do not trade healthy QB,s of his caliber.
