Leunen, a second round propsect, is one of the people who will be working out for the Suns on Thur. Overall, he reminds me of a pre-injury Brian Cardinal.

Maarty Leunen is never going to stand out in a setting like this, as there will always be bigger, more athletic players to ooh and ah over, but he once again showed his toughness, smarts and terrific skill-level by knocking down the shots that were presented to him, running the floor hard, competing on the defensive end, doing an excellent job on the glass, and not making even a single mistake. He finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds in 20 minutes

Two stats stick out from his play last season. First, he averaged 9.2 rpg and he shot 49.29% for three. Add that to 55.9% overall and 78.5% from the line, I could see him being useful in spot situations.

he's very slim, a lot like a tayshaun prince maybe. i would like to see how the work out goes, he's an interesting prospect. based on the scouting report for him, he looks like he is being overlooked because of the depth of bigs in this draft, but for a second rounder he is certainly an interesting prospect.

Everybody wants the next KG. Guys like Leunen aren't likely to be more than backup role players and everyone wants more. But guys who player really hard and shoot the three well can be really useful. It all depends on who is available, but I could see him replacing Marks as a kind of Bo Outlaw with a jumps shot.

It is so weird to see Lee Cummard's name even mentioned with regards to the NBA Draft - he's a friend of my brother's from high school. :)

As an ASU fan living in Eugene I feel like I can speak objectively about him. He has ice water in his veins for one thing. He is always so cool and so calm it's almost strange. Secondly, he didn't shoot nearly enough considering how consistent he was for the Ducks. However, having said that, I say that he didn't shoot enough because it really seemed like every time he would shoot it would go in. He could hit the three very well and likewise free-throws. As a defender I would say he is a tad above average. He has the height and the size to compete in college but he would most certainly have to put on some weight to hold his own in the NBA. I distinctively remember when the Ducks played UCLA and K. Love had a really hard time while being defended by Marty. A lot of Love's points that game came either while Marty was out or from distance. Lastly, he is such a good team player its kind of disgusting. He is always all about the team first and really never gave a crap about "getting his".
Having said all that, I think he will at best be a 5-10 min. guy coming off the bench. He seems to be one of those guys that may have already hit his ceiling in terms of potential. I'd like to be wrong on this one because he really is a great person unlike some others who will have much longer much more lucrative careers.

Thanks. My intial reaction was that he's like Brian Cardinal when with the Warriors. It was funny how Mullin kept getting upset that his coaches wout play Cardinal rather than his high priced picks. My memory or Cardinal was that he just killed the Suns with his shooting and hustle. I can't say Luenen is that kind of guy, but I wouldn't mind having someone of that sort.

I think the the top tier of the second round will have some nice prospects this year. I hope Kerr is aiming for a high second round pick somewhere.

This guy is very intriguing.

The 30 to 40 could have some seriously interesting prospects. It gets a bit dicy after 40, but this is not a throwaway like in some years. I'd love to move up if it can be done affordably.
