But who? I just don't see much in the free agent market for PGs.

Ok let me expand on that. Free agency OR trade to get a pg. McD has been saying he's going to be aggressive in those areas and he could have went SGA and instead went Bridges.

For sure, I think he will be aggressive looking for a PG. I just think it will likely have to come through trade.

I don't know much about him but isn't he labeled as injury prone?

{speaking of Teodosic} He only played 45 games this year which sounds like he was out injured.

There are a number of good young PG, which we could pursue. TJMcConnell would be fine - he has a good ast/TO ratio and shoots well, but he's selective - as opposed to being high volume. Defends fairly well. VanVleet is an RFA with a financially strapped team who has another backup PG of comparable skills. Tyus Jones is the best of them IMO, strong defender and shoots well selecively. He'll be an RFA next year and Minny may lose him for nothing - odds are we could get him for the Milw. pick plus Ulis - so they have a backup. Dinwiddie might on the market.

I like TJ but he's not a starter, he's the Doug Flutie of point guards. I'd be very interested in acquiring him but we'd still be in need of a regular.
I would see him as a stop gap option till Okobo is ready to take over the position.

Ristic didn’t know that Ayton would be on the team when he initially agreed to be on the Suns SL roster?

What planet had he been living in then?

I don’t think that’s it...

I think Ristic backed out when he learned Igor would be coaching. Since our HC is also running the SL team odds are he'll play Ayton more than anyone else would have. Plus since we have so much young talent on the team I think we'll see a lot of lineups and combinations we'll see during the season also. Sort of a feeling out period for Ayton and Igor though. Ristic won't receive much coaching or opportunity since he'll be backing up the #1 overall pick who will now be paired with his regular season coach. Ayton is a priority, Ristic isn't. His chances of making the team were slim anyways.

Not sure, but he has only been in the league for one year. Thus it seems a little premature to call him injury prone.

Keep in mind, it's not me calling him injury prone. I've seen him described as such. Perhaps it's not just from his NBA season? I don't know, but that label concerns me.

He'd be a poor stop gap IMO. He can be very effective when the opposing team has no reason to scout or prepare for him. So if everyone is ignoring him (and us), he'll do fine. But we want to win and that's going to put him on display.

He took the first offer he got, because he did not know if he would get a better one. Then he got a better offer, probably overseas.

Thats my guess.

I read somewhere that Jones had an issue with his playing time and the coach assured him he'd figure more prominently this season. Also, he was born and raised in Minnesota so he has strong ties there.

If Coach likes what he sees in Warren, Bender, Chriss, I hope this has impact on any trades being made. I like them all but they are certainly not "superstars". I only care about Booker, JJ, Ayton and I guess Bridges.

I heard something like that also but that was before they acquired Rose and he seemed to be the PG that Thibs' preferred to use. I think if Rose decides to stay in Minnesota that will help another team acquire Jones. I'd be pissed off if I was a T-Wolves fan though. Losing a promising young PG so the coach can play Rose who is just a shell of his former self. Thibs is wearing out his welcome there. Not just with handling the PG's but the potential KAT trade and Wiggins max extension. I don't think we'll see many coaches get GM powers when they sign with a new team going forward. Having them pull double duty hasn't worked well for anyone, really. The Pistons, Clippers, and Wolves are the most recent examples of it failing but I know there are more out there. Budenholzer in Atlanta was also another situation that soured because of how he ran the team.

But he's in his 30's. I understand he's only been in the NBA for a limited time but an injury prone label for a player that old isn't exactly jumping the gun if he can't stay healthy. Yes, he's been in the NBA for a limited time but he's been playing professionally for a while and people don't get generally get healthier once they're on the wrong side of 30.

I really want to give all our guys a fresh start with a new coach plus playing with Ayton (and Bridges). I mean with all the new dynamics involved players games can be elevated. Ayton will draw a lot of attention out there which will free up some guys.

Maybe it happened more than once? This article was post-draft I believe and said that he'd lost minutes to Rose and was concerned about his future. Thibs assured him he'd be getting more minutes this next season as Crawford wasn't expected back. Supposedly, they brought Jones in and built him up, heading off the expected trade request.

With the talent surrounding him like Booker, Bridges, Jackson and Ayton, I don’t think opposing teams will be worrying about him and will instead be focused on the guys just mentioned so it would accomplish the same feat you are talking about here imo.

If anyone is unaware, Canaan is a unrestricted free agent.

He also said he believes the Suns are more interested in Ulis' situation and free agency than signing Canaan right now, FWIW. If you want to get picky he would qualify as something in free agency they could be focused on but I don't believe that was Bordow's intent.

I was coming here to post that tweet Mainstreet just did though.

The Suns only have until Saturday to decide on Ulis so I can see why he is a higher priority.

The decision on Reed needs to be made by Friday.

@Poop Head

I kind of like your avatar without the poop.

Thank you. Didn't realize until I posted that my tweet would be attached to Bordow's reply. I have a friend who is a comic artist that made it for me originally. He sent a bunch of different eyes and mouths with it so I could swap them out to "change my mood", which I thought was really cool. I'll have to find the files he sent me so I can change my avatar here.

Maybe you can preview them but as I recall that got you into a predicament before. :p

They have until July 6th with Big Sauce, also. That's the date Spotrac lists his contract as becoming fully guaranteed. I know it was mentioned in an AZCentral article also but that's too hard to find quickly and easily.

He may be a marginal player but unless the Suns have a real up-grade in mind, I'd just as soon stay with Williams. He's a great story and he's a decent role player when healthy.
