guys, what are the odds curt can come back and dominate his way to a cy young? i mean, it's such a shame really, with randy down, this is about as good a chance as he's gonna get. suppose he has a sub-2 era and wins 90% of his starts the rest of the way. can he still win the cy young?

how would you place his odds? "barely possible?" "longshot?" or "reasonable chance?" i'd like to hear especially from schillingfan on this. i badly want curt to get this one.

Impossible....especially with the way Kevin Brown has been pitching. Of all the awards, the Cy Young is truely looked upon by the voters on how well a pitcher has faired an entire season not just through a stretch run.

era of a little bit over 3. 4 wins. didn't pedro go on the dl last season and make a run for the cy young? finished 2nd i think. how long was his layoff. any chance curt could do the same?

Well, with his recent history, I dont suspect KB to be keeping the heat up... he has been hurt so often, its just a matter of time before he does something stupid (see hitting toilet) or just flat out gets hurt.

I do also think that Schill has less than 1% to win the CY this year.. better luck next year!

1% chance is an optimistic view for THIS season... Curt will be focusing on getting back into form for this year... delusions of Cy Young trophy this year simply aren't realistic.

At this point, the most likely Dback candidate to win the Cy Young would be Miguel. Curt and Randy have missed way to much time - either would have to pitch about 10 shutouts to even get into the running.

Brown is the favorite right now, but when is the last time he pitched a full season?

i think brown's on the dl right now. but if you really wanna know why he's never won a cy young, just watch him pitch. outside of hideo nomo, have you ever seen a weirder wind-up? just watching him makes me wince. imagine how taxing that is on his body.

fyi, id really rather have webb for cy young. but miggy...i dunno, i'd say its a real long shot, he's just not dominating enough. i know he's good and all, but he's not mowing em down, like johnson or schilling routinely do. webb would be in contention if he had more wins. it's a shame the dbacks keep denying him runs.
