Reading the reports from the Senior Bowl it seems it's about 50/50 on who is the better QB, Jay Cutler or Charlie Whitehurst. So, why then, is Cutler presumably all of a sudden a top 10 pick and Whitehurst is a 3rd/4th round pick? Before the season Cutler was projected to be a 3rd/4th round pick and then suddenly jumped to first round to top 10 without playing a game. I don't get it. So, the guy has a strong arm. I think it's more of alot people trying to make themselve look like "geniuses" by hyping a lower rated guy and hoping he turns out to be a star. To me, this hype could've just as easily been heaped on Charlie Whitehurst or Brodie Croyle and they would've shot up the boards.

Which reports? I haven't seen much on Whitehurst.

And Cutler didn't jump into the first without playing a game - he steadily won accolades throughout the season, ending up being the SEC's Offensive Player of the Year, over Croyle, etc.

Charlie Whitehurst is a total statue, also very erratic career. I actually believe he was a better prospect after his sophomore year than he is now.

Brodie Croyle fell apart after Tyrone Prothro got hurt. In the 5 games he had him, he threw 9 TDs. The other 7 games he only threw 5. His rating took a serious dive after Prothro's injury.

The reports on Great Blue North draft have Whitehurst having the better footwork and timing while Cutler has the better arm.So, i'm not sure about the statue comment. I have seen on the NFL network, heard on the radio, and read GBN, among others, that they are dead even. In fact, they are both wearing #6 and they say it's hard to tell them apart.

I'm not going off scouting reports. I'm going off of what I've seen and stats.

The biggest thing about Whitehurst has been that he has been inconsistent. He will make a very nice pass followed by a real horrible one. Cutler had a bad first day and every day since he has gotten better. I swear if you watch the NFL network, read NFLdraftcountdown and read or watch ESPn they all say the same thing.

Whitehurst also just had surgery so he stated he is only %75. I'm telling you Cutler didn't just show up out of nowhere.

BTW Croyle has been getting his share of hype as well, but some fear it is just due to the others he is competing against... Shockley and the kid from UAB

My first guess as to why this is would be their production over the last couple of years. Cutler was able to improve in a program that is not exactly a powerhouse, and capped it off with an impressive senior season.

Whitehurst on the other hand would have been considered a high draft pick had he been able to come out his sophmore season. He had an absolutly terrible junior year, followed by somewhat of a rebound this past season, but he was never able to regain the form he had his sophmore year.

Kiper was almost swallowing Brodie Croyle's lunch this morning on the radio...... Hype sucks.

I will wait for the combine and individual workouts.
