no. he made it there one time in 2010. otherwise he's usually gotten hurt, missed big chunks of time, been mediocre or been part of end of season collapses with Denver when they were 8-4 and finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs or the Bears this season.

To be fair, he lead the Bears to a 10-6 record last season and they missed the playoffs.

true. but I guess if we're being fair, you could say the same thing about Palmer this year, no?

I mean...Cutler led the Bears to the playoffs with a 81 QB rating, 3,033 yards 19 TDs and 14 interceptions on 58.8% completion percentage playing the 5th ranked D. if he gets the credit for leading the team to 10 wins, an argument could be made that Palmer "led" the Cardinals to a 10-6 record with 83.9 rating, 4,274 yards, 24 TDs and 22 interceptions with a 63.3% completion percentage playing with the 6th ranked D.

neither guy is great shakes, IMO.

Absolutely. I guess the difference to me is that Cutler is 30 (will turn 31 around the draft) and Palmer turns 35 next year.

Cutler is kind of a rich-man's Tony Romo. All the tools are there, and it's frustrating to watch him continue to underachieve with those tools. He doesn't elevate the play of the teammates around him.

You look at Cutler's similarity scores on Pro Football Reference and you see John Elway's name come up again and again.

I think that if Palmer were 30 and looking at his second contract, he'd get whatever Matt Ryan got last year. Matt Ryan is actually a pretty good comp for Palmer. Cutler is kind of a ******* Aaron Rodgers.

It'll be interesting to see how Cutler performs in the second year in that Trestman system with a more settled OL and two very good wideouts.

I put Cutler on that second tier of NFL QBs with Flacco, Romo, Roethlisberger, E. Manning, and Palmer.

He reminds me as I said as Romo as well but his arm strength is a lot stronger. I just prefer Palmer, be it character or what but Palmer just seems more level headed a leader and that is why I give him the nod but Cutler to me is sure the hell not worth that kind of a contract. Then again, as stated...who are they going to get. One can say McCown but I doubt with tape on him in the Bear offense and a whole season he would be better lol

Look no further, than who has played QB for the Bears.

It was a no brainer.

Seriously, look at the starting QB's for the Bears throughout their history, they give the Cardinals a run for their money when it comes to bad QBs, and IMO, they have a worse history than us......think about that.

Bring up all the stats, and what not, he is the best QB the Bears have ever had, thus they would be nuts not to resign him.
