I've been focusing on him all game watching the sugar bowl , he looks slow and always off balance. Reminds me of Levi Brown as a big tackle that can maul but doesn't have the feet to go along with that power. After he lost a few battles to the speed rusher he started to jump. (False start) like he was guessing so he could get a jump since he knew he didn't have the speed to keep up. Who's that remind you of ?

Just like I said in an earlier thread, drafting a LT from predominantly running team in this day of the passing game is asking for trouble!!!

Levi Clown, Gallery, the Buckeye drafted by the Steelers, the Smith kid from Baylor a few years ago are examples!!! Buyer beware

i think this staff prefer athletic type of lineman..
all of the starters are under 310 lb outside of fanaika that is just a substitute
i think there is not risk they will draft Kouandjio or antonio richardson...

No doubt they do, they drafted two of the most athletic guards in Cooper and Watford last year and then followed it up with cutting Levi cement foot brown.

I'll admit that I only saw the 1st half but until he let off a sack late in the half, he was dominating his man and I focussed on him every play. I was off and on in the 2nd half. The sacks allowed total showed he may struggled in the 2nd half but I saw a couple sacks that came from the other side. He was still dominant in the run game.

Btw, I fully expected to see a thread like this that is based on 1/2 of football. Joe Thomas let off 2 sacks to Cam Heyward last game, do we not want him? People think Lewan can play LT because he had 1 decent half against an un-inspired Clowney last year. Lewan is a few notches below Kouandjio and that's being kind.

Also, that Striker kid from Okie looks like a pass rushing demon.

The best thing to happen is that he falls to 20 because atleticism has never been his problem. However, a game where he struggled like this may cause him to return to Bama.

Agree. I believe we go after a proven LT in FA. I we do draft one he will be more athletic and good in pass blocking.

All the experts were saying Alabama was the best team in country even with the loss to Auburn. I guess Oklahoma didn't listen to them. :D

a few players on Alabama had to have scouts going "hmmmmmmmmm"

AJ McCarron: his rep is the "safe" QB pick. Maybe not the athletic upside of some other QBs in the draft, but you get a dependable guy who will execute and not make mistakes-- an Alex Smith type. Interesting what happens to him when the threat of the run goes away.

As for Cyrus -- I only noticed him on that last play. No idea how he did otherwise -- but again, Alabama's pass pro wasn't all that good when forced into a passing game

I hear whispers he would be a better guard in the NFL than tackle. The

other end Grissom is also a pro prospect

And I only saw the second half, and saw a LT that was getting blown out - Striker was beating him all half.

Eric Striker (6'0" 219lbs.), That "pass rushing demon" had 3 sacks all season....and then added three more on speed rushes against Levi, I mean Cyrus.

I've watched quite a bit of film on Lewan, Cyrus, Robinson and Erving and Cyrus is absolutely the worst of the bunch by a mile. He is not a LT, at G or RT, he'll excel.

I can't imagine BA going with a rookie LT next year. Not any of the ones who would be available at #20.

He'd rather go with a UDFA who didn't attend offseason workouts or training camp and hadn't played LT in the NFL, right?

U think sowell is confirmed as a starter?
Last year draft it seems they were intented to draft a tackle in first round, but then the top 3 were not available.
Arians said that a first round player is immediatly a starter even if some rookie mistakes are expected.
If a rookie tackle could start last season for arians could start also in the next one.
I dont think tackle class last season was better then this year class.
Fisher 2 months before the draft was projected as a late first rounder.
Lane johnson was a workout warrior and not properly considered a first rounder prior the combine or senior bowl. The tackle were highly considered last season cause the lack of talents in some positions

No, he'll be going HARD after an LT in FA. He's not going to go into the draft without a new LT and have to hope that one falls to #20 that he likes and is ready to step in on day 1. Between Albert, Veldenheer, Monroe and Collins, I think we'll land our 2014 starting LT in FA.

If you don't and you go into the draft without one, what do you do if the likley scenario that the top 5 [Matthews, Erving, Lewan, Cyrus (who I hate)& Robinson (if he declares)]are off the board by 20? You're screwed.

Who played better than the previous player, with less mental mistakes which made the unit perform better as a whole. The performance at LT isn't the reason we didn't make the playoffs IMO. I also believe if Levi Clown continued playing this team wouldn't have finished 10-6 :p

Mitch may be right, this team was on the verge & BA may stay the course at LT or sign a FA LT and plug & Coop and Watford at the two guards along with Massey. Or stay the same except for Coop at LG for continuity.
