Good article by Scott Bordow in the Tribune, here's the link.

Obviously, Gonzo is gone at the end of this season (or perhaps even earlier), but it would be nice to see that he and the Dbacks go their separate ways on friendly terms. But judging by the quotes that may not happen, and it would be very unfortunate if some parting shots are made between Gonzo and the management. For all Luis Gonzalez has done for the team and the fans, I really hope that this does not turn ugly like when some of the state's other superstars (Randy Johnson, Charles Barkley) left.

What's concerning to me is that if this is the way the organization is going to treat their outgoing players, then that kind of nasty, meanspiritied, turn on you reputation is being built. How are we going to attract the top or near tot he top kind of people if they know a slump can cause then FO to turn on them? I thought the Colangelo group was more to blame, but since it's still happening, guess not.
I remember how Matty Williams was frozen out when they wanted him gone. Before that, the press was all about him being a pillar in the community, a great family man, etc. Once they wanted him out, things turned really cold. Suddently the PR machine kicked into the nasty mode.
I was pretty surprised to see him back with the organization after that.
While I may think that yes, Gonzo is past his prime, he still deserves the respect and treatment due to him from all he has done for this team since day one.

If he can't produce he shouldn't be playing. If he isn't willing to take a reserve role than he should find a team that will play him everyday. My guess is that he somehow ends up on either the royals are devil rays.
