Cahill not sharp at all... With a nice lead he has already given up 4 walks. Against a better team, he'd be paying dearly...
Chavez continues to RAKE!

That's a bit harsh. The walks are a concern but it's not like they're hitting him.

No doubt. He certainly found whatever was off and fixed it, as from the 4th inning on he's been money. Interesting to see Gibby send him back out for the 8th. I like it, however he is at 88 pitches and for Cahill, that is typically all he can handle. Should be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Goldy has four hits and is a triple away from the cycle.

I know, I know, who cares about fantasy leagues. But I have Goldy, Chavez and Didi. Tonight is looking good.

Our team should increase its hitting stats this weekend, which hopefully leads to more confidence at the dish for guys like Montero and Prado

I know its still early, but Goldy is in the running for the triple crown. Didi is among the league leaders in average, but doesn't have quite enough ABs to qualify yet. Curious as to where his average will be in like 50 more ABs. Oh and Parra leads the Majors and Goldy is tied for 5th in the Majors in WAR.

Fantasy analysis from MLB.COM for Goldschmidt:

"Goldschmidt took his talents to South Beach and smacked his 11th and 12th homers. The Arizona masher is batting .440 (22-for-50) with seven long balls, 17 RBIs, six doubles, 11 runs and two steals in 15 games this month. Goldy is an absolute must-start and has officially joined baseball's elite."

I don't care how many OFs they have Parra needs to play every day!

How could he not? He's one of the best defensive outfielders in the league and has been great at the plate as well. I don't care if Gibby hates him, he isn't stupid enough not to have him out there all the time.

1.12 WHIP on the day. Lowered his ERA to 2.48.

I understand it's the Marlins, but still a nice effort. And he went 8 innings.

Yep. Sitting on the bench in the top of the 4th, someone must have gotten into his head that all he needs to do is throw the ball over the plate and the Marlins will do the rest! He got on quite the roll in those middle innings. But the way he started out would've killed him against most other teams...

We REALLY need to reverse jinx Montero before he approaches secret agent territory, .099 or .007 or whatever.

I agree. He passed the Mendoza line a long time ago. Even his most staunch supporters (you can throw me in there) are running out of patience.

He's adopted a very unorthodox set up at the plate... Not always, but plenty of times he is still shuffling his feet while the pitcher is in his windup so that by the time the ball is in the strike zone, Miggy isn't even close to being ready to swing...
He's always been prone to taking wickedly aggressive swings as if he's going for the fences with each at-bat, but, in the past he was typically able to check that and take a slower, smoother swing when he just wanted to make contact and drive the ball into a gap. But now, there is nothing smooth or slow about his swing at all, ever. He looks totally out of sync. He very rarely ever puts a professional looking swing on the ball, and he is constantly taking meatballs for called strikes, while swinging at bad pitches.
This could go down as a huge mistake by the Dbacks in locking him up to a longer term deal. It's almost as if Miggy needs to be sent down to Reno where he can make an effort to find his swing, while not hurting the team. But of course, after signing him to his new deal, there really is no chance of him going to Reno... Not good... :-(

It's the Gerardo Parra show to start the game tonight as he leads off with a home run on the 1st pitch. Then in the bottom of the 1st he almost gets Dietrich rounding 2nd too far on a single, then promptly throws him out at the plate (close play) on the next single. This guy is playing at another level this season.

Horrible call on pickoff at first base in the 7th. Goldy had him, CLEARLY. Wow.

Didn't hurt us though.

Brandon goes the distance as the Diamondbacks win 1-0. No way Gibson sits Parra when Eaton comes back.

He won't need to sit Parra to play Eaton. Just have Eaton, Parra and Ross as the regular starters.
