So how much more money did he actually get to waste a year of his career?
Due to his arm issues after the draft he wasn't going to pitch much (at all?) last season so he didn't exactly waste a year. I absolutely love seeing Scott Boras give in and not get what he wants though.

Well I just read that Scherzer can earn up to 5.8 mil on this contract, but I guess a lot of it is from incentives?

Yes it was written this morning that indeed this guy is projected for the bullpen. The guy wastes a year's pay. You really got to wonder just what are they teaching our kids these days.

Byrnes says he will be a starter but you can't count him out as a closer.

While many in the industry envision Scherzer as a late-innings reliever, the Diamondbacks will give him an opportunity to be a starter.

With three pitchers from last year's draft already in the majors, the Diamondbacks believe Scherzer also could be a quick-to-the-majors pitcher.

They showed during the Dbacks v Mets game that he has one dark brown eye and one light blue eye, he looks like a demon!
