Burke, VA : What do you think the SUNS are going to do during the offseason? Im confused on what Jerry is trying to do with the franchise.

David Aldridge: I think they'll look at the draft first, with the potential for two Lottery picks. If they can clear another contract or two, they'll be aggressive in free agency. I could see them, for example, coming hard after a guy like Kenyon Martin.

Later in the chat:

Amare Stoudemire, PHX: DA....Kenyon Martin....So what are they gonna do with me?

David Aldridge: If they think McDyess can play a little center in the west (and they do), why couldn't Martin?

I really don't like Martin at all so I may be biased(also I'm pretty sure he's quite a bit smaller than Dice or Amare). Anyone think this is possible at all?

Martin isn't quite a bit smaller than Dice or Amare, he's around the same size.

But DA's full of crap if he thinks we'll go after Martin.

It is refered to in the industry, technically as "pulling an answer out of your butt". It could also be translated to layman's terms as; "I have no freaking idea".

I would not think there is any way the suns want Martin........they have Amare and no place to play martin........definitely not center.

Got to be an east coast guy, nobody in the West would imagine this kind of nonsense.

I can't even fathom why we would want Kenyon Martin.

Of course it would be funny if we got him and he made it into a big "F You" against a certain starting point guard in Jersey. :D

martin came in at 6'8" and 230 so he is much smaller then amare or mcdyess. dyess is 6'9 and 250 and amare is 6'10" 245. martin is a good player who would bring a lot of defense to the team but he isnt a good rebounder or a outstanding scorer or even a stand out shot blocker. martin is a small power forward who tries to get by with a nasty streak and good strenght and a nice med range game.

If you watch when the players are next to each other during time outs etc. You will see that McDyess is about 6' 10" and Amare is about 6' 9".

I do not care what they say at the weigh ins and measuring heights.............Amare is not 6' 10" ..........no way!
I wish he was but itdoes not matter he is a player!!
However, he should not be playing at center.

:(

I used to have a chart with the official draft measurements from the 2002 draft. I'm almost positive Amare Stoudemire was officially listed at 6'10" in shoes and 6'8 3/4" without them. I'm not even sure Kenyon Martin is 6'9" in his shoes.

I think Amare Stoudemire may appear at times to be shorter than he really is because he tends to slouch. Shawn Marion does the same thing.

Some guys "play tall" which is a function of arm length, strength, and leaping ability. It is why I have no doubt that Barbosa could play SG, he has very long arms and can really jump.

If Kenyon Martin is taller than JJ, it's only because of his huge head.

I guess Danny Fortson plays center in the West, though, so why not Kenyon?

Amare looks like he's about 6'9" on the court. Voskuhl might be 6'10", JJ maybe 6'7 1/2", Marion 6'7". I don't think Marion slouches, but he doesn't have much of a neck, so he's effectively a little taller than that.

Zarko is the Sun that slouches the most.

You probably just described the reason why Shawn plays Power Forward so much.
