I can give the Mavs props they played with intensity and desire while the Warriors did not. The Mavs wanted it more than W's because they actually realized the importance of this game and the tie breaker and knew that the season was on the line with this game. Nelson should have had his group hyped 2night, he should've played a game tape from last season to show them what they can do when they rise to the occaison and play with heart and passion. Total failure on thier part tonight.

The Mavs were the professionals tonight.
true. the warriors are on the road coming off a back to back with SA. and they just were very flat at both ends which was a little surprising. in paticular harrington and jackson...he especially living by the outside shot. when you do that these types of games are bound to happen from time to time. I wonder if they were surprised by dirk? I was a little. I thought yesterday that he would play, but based on his rhetoric this morning no one expected him to play. national reports had him missing the game. anyway his return gave this team a spark that they haven't had in a long time. they played like it was a game 7.

I hope they do beat the lakers. hopefully dirk can have a little more life in that ankle, because they are going to need his defensive rebounding a lot more in that game...especially with him guarding odam who he usually defends well. but odam is an excellent rebounder. it just seems like dirk's ankle is going to hold his game back for some time. but they need the same out of howard in what they've got over the last few games. terry needs to play like that more often as well. he really attacked the basket tonight. but i'd expect a better defensive effort out of the lakers. I hope i'm wrong.

Congrats for the mavs, hopefully this is a turning point for them.

I don't like seeing the lakers and spurs at the top of the rankings right now, quite depressing.

If we could stomp the spurs in round 2 and then meet the mavs in the WCF since they were able to upset the hornets would be a nice scenario.

I want the glory days of mavs vs suns back. Those were the best games. It will just be disgusting if the sterns or lakers get another title.

I want the suns to hoist that trophy first and foremost, but I wouldn't shed a tear if it was the mavs instead at this point, unless it is a happy tear over the spurs not getting back to back! :D

anyone watching the nuggets allowing the sonics to score all over them. this team either really misses k-mart's D or they just don't play defense. I hope dallas doesn't struggle like this vs. the sonics.

Those 3 teams can bump and grind to get the last 2 spots, but in reality I think none are legitimately going to get out of the 1st round....

we'll see an upset would be fine by me. I think the odds are good this year that one of the three have a legit shot at getting out of the first round. even more prime than last year when it actually happened. I don't see a whole lot of seperation from 1-8. the records indicate it as well. it's not uncommon to see the 2nd place team 6 games out to end the year. this year the 7th team is currently 6 games out.

if you guys aren't watching this nuggets game on NBATV you are missing an offensive clinic. durant just hit another desperation 3 to tie the game again to force another OT...as one wasn't enough. this time his shot was from austin though.

I saw this quote in Coro's blog for today:

We feel that we're a better team than them, and we felt we were a better team than them (Monday)." - Denver's Allen Iverson, after Denver beat Phoenix on Tuesday

Whoo!! I believe with Denver's loss the Suns have just clinched a playoff spot. :)

The Nuggets are now 46-31 and so are the Warriors. They play each other on April 10 and the loser of that game can only win a maximum of 50 games this season. The Suns already have 51 wins and so one of those teams can't catch us. Therefore we're in. :)

I was checking nba.com and when i saw DEN 147..i said to myself "damn it seattle..that was expected..easy win for nuggets"..but then sea 151???:)

i don't see denver winning in oakland and making the play-off's.plus,i think if they re losing at hoe against sac and then away to a team like seattle, they will definitely lose to warriors AND Utah, and they might lose to Clippers as well if Elton Brand will be healthy.

IMO,Warriors made the play-off's today

Yep, Denver didn't do itself any favors by losing at home to Sacramento last night and then at Seattle tonight. Those are the games that playoff teams must win. Gonna be a good battle Thursday night when Denver plays at Golden State. May likely be for the playoffs.

And yes, with both the Warriors and Nuggets losing, the Suns managed to back into clinching a playoff spot tonight.

So by winning tonight, the Sonics guaranteed that their pick from the Suns won't be a lottery pick? Suckers.

I'd like to see Dallas secure the #8 seed. I think they have the best shot at knocking off New Orleans in the first round. The Hornets are the only team I genuinely fear for the Suns.

If Denver doesn't make it, this must be the most talent-stuffed team to ever miss the postseason.

Former MVP and 3rd leading scorer, All-Star forward and 4th leading scorer, Defensive Player of the Year, No 1 pick power forward...

Wow, that would be embarrassing!

Just checked their positions in the draft (not that it necessarily means something, but this is impressive):

Camby 2nd pick in 1996
Iverson 1st pick in 1996
Martin 1st pick in 2000
Anthony 3rd pick in 2003
